  1. The creep marks are decals, one fell off the nose wheel so that one was painted on. Thanks John
  2. Airfix 1:48 Folland Gnat T.1 (A05124) The Red Arrows Aerobatic Team, Royal Air Force Kemble, Gloucestershire, England, 1979. A great kit, the only problem I had was the translucency of the white on the decals, however a set from my other kit resolved these as I doubled up on them. Brush painted with Humbrol acrylics, primarily HU238 Gloss Arrow Red, glossed with Humbrol clear and Decalfix on the decals. Thoroughly recommended, excellent engineering. http://i1377.photobucket.com/albums/ah51/johnirwing/008_zpsuyclelyu.jpg http://i1377.photobucket.com/albums/ah51/johnirwing/010_zpsy3wczzdm.jpg http://i1377.photobucket.com/albums/ah51/johnirwing/007_zpsbpvdbvll.jpg http://i1377.photobucket.com/albums/ah51/johnirwing/009_zpscjtial07.jpg http://i1377.photobucket.com/albums/ah51/johnirwing/013_zpsqtnt7muq.jpg http://i1377.photobucket.com/albums/ah51/johnirwing/012_zpsu9dixypp.jpg
  3. whilst we are in a global economy I get the impression that kit manufacturers produce what they know will sell closer to home and undertake market research to support the investment. The home market for Airfix is heavily based around military aircraft, forums and shows bear this out, America is heavily into cars, Europe possibly AFV's and in Asia a huge general demand for models of any genre Yes I would like to see more diversity from Airfix, but not at the expense of the Company, look at the Olympics debarcle in 2012 to see what can happen if you get it wrong. Economics dictate production as sure as function dictates form. Hopefully successful releases may enable more investment in areas where a lower return would be acceptable. Although I dare say the shareholders would need some convincing.
  4. Sorry I-pad had a wobbly and duplicated the above post.
  5. Started one about 8 months ago and stalled as I needed some paint. Been doing other things and should be returning to it shortly. Made one about 20 years ago and yes the fuselage has a tendancy to warp but that was sorted by "glue a little at a time" method, I see, to recall that Airfix made an announcement some time ago that the will not release these kits again due to quality issues. One can but hope a new tooled kit is in the todo list somewhere.
  6. Recently finished my attempt at the most powerful rocket to launch successfully built by man to date. A model I’ve been wanting to make for 47 years. Not perfect but I’m one happy bunny. 7. Airfix 1:24 Supermarine Spitfire MkVb (A50055) RF*D AB910 No303 (Kosciuszko) Squadron Sqd Ldr Jan “Johnny” Zumbach http://i1377.photobucket.com/albums/ah51/johnirwing/006_zpsycowgezh.jpg http://i1377.photobucket.com/albums/ah51/johnirwing/007_zpsncrepelb.jpg http://i1377.photobucket.com/albums/ah51/johnirwing/008_zpsqw1czqsx.jpg http://i1377.photobucket.com/albums/ah51/johnirwing/005_zpsrrndehjd.jpg http://i1377.photobucket.com/albums/ah51/johnirwing/009_zpsxcha9acj.jpg http://i1377.photobucket.com/albums/ah51/johnirwing/010_zpswna0mrjm.jpg I'm afraid this one put up a bit of a fight, old mould with lots of flash and updated parts for the Vb were not up to Airfix's current excellent standards. Last built the base kit in 1970 when it was first released and loved it, it was a diferent sort of challenge now but still enjoyed making it. The kit is built completely out of the box (with the exception of some fishing line for aerials) brush painted with Humbol enamels and finished with brush painted Humbrol Matcote.
