  1. That is Superb (if you pardon the pun!).
  2. Anyone have a heads up on the release of the 1/48th Buccaneer? Wanting it as a Christmas present (for me!) and have it pre-ordered.
  3. And here is my effort. By no means perfect and built from the box.
  4. Excellent job but this kit is awful. Showing its age when boxed with Type 12 and Type 21. HMS Tiger similarly bad.
  5. You made an excellent job there. I too liked this kit, just the detail included in this scale. You put mine to shame since I built out-of-the-box but I am still proud of it. Got this along with HMS Tiger and what a contrast. I had made HMS Tiger many many years ago and didn't like it. So I thought I'd get the dual box set and have another go. What an utter disappointment. It's awful, lacking in detail. I put it alongside my HMS Belfast as my aim was to compare the two since they are closely related designs. The lack of detail is shocking whilst Belfast just looks good. HMS Tiger looks so bad. Kept it for a while and then binned it. Thankfully, the surprise was HMS Daring which is pride of place. Similarly, I bought the Falklands three box set 10+ years ago. HMS Leander - excellent kit, HMS Antelope(?) - excellent kit BUT HMS Devonshire! Well the latter is like HMS Tiger, just awful. Appreciate the age but these two kits should be either totally re-tooled or their mould destroyed. Awful.
  6. Oh! And a CF-105 Arrow to complement the TSR-2 in 1/48th.
  7. Well I'm into 1/48. Been enjoying the 1950s/1960s aircraft releases. So, how about a) Supermarine Scimitar b) Buccaneer S.1 c) FG.1 Phantom d) Mig-21 e) F-8 Crusader I'd also like a B.1 version of the Vulcan. That straight leading edge is something else. I always thought that they'd designed the 1980s kit with that in mind. Swapping out the outer wing panels and tail to remove to bulge would get you very close. Oh and a Tu-95, visually striking aircraft.
  8. Ah thanks, just found it. Nice job. Yours appears to have the same. You're implying that the square 'holes' on the upper surfaces at the wing fold point are correct? It that right though? Have pre-ordered the 2023 variant maybe I'll see if it fits together with that part still in place next time...doesn't look particularly aerodynamic!
  9. Started my build of the 1/48th Buccaneer at the weekend. All going well until I got to the wings. Steps 59 & 60 say cut off the tab (used for folded wings I presume) from the wing. Which I did, and subsequent steps show no such tab in place. Fixing the wings to the fuselage has left me with holes in the wing where those tabs would've slotted. Have I missed something here? Baffled.
  10. So I have my new 1/48 Buccaneer, hopefully I'll have more success with it than the one I attempted many years ago with a fuselage that I could not fit together. One question though. the weapon load-outs seem specific to particular depictions of the aircraft. I'd like to have the internal bomb bay loaded (Option D) but was it the case that other depictions would have had an empty bomb bay? Shame that the kit only has four 1000lb bombs... I am all for a representative load but could I mix and match with rockets and fuel tanks and NOT do Option D? Also, there is a error in the instructions...anyone else found it?
