  1. I think they are in Czechoslovakian markings Patrick, no orange centre.
  2. Great to see some real modelling rather than construction! Fantastic job on that Battle Heather, much better than my old efforts. A new Battle must be on Airfix's to do list. One quick question about the prop tips, I notice no yellow, was that a thing with Belgium aircraft?
  3. To be fair to Airfix over the shape of the Battle, when they were originally tooling up the kit they asked Fairey for a set of plans to work from, and unknowingly to them they were provided with a set from the prototype, which had several differences from the production machine.
  4. Hi Byron-h780, You must live near Southend in Essex? An old company called Modeldecal used to do a set with markings for XL426 (Set 71), but I don't think they are available anymore. You can contact Airfix spares for a replacement set for your missing decals. /media/tinymce_upload/b639d8241a94ed469d3b58276158fbd1.jpg
  5. How about a stream takeoff scramble by 4 Vulcans followed by 4 Victors and 4 Valients, all in anti-flash white, followed by a trip to get hearing aids fitted!

  7. In the past Airfix have released the following in 1/72, which did, or could, have a Falklands connection; Skyhawk A-4P/Q Pucara (Re-boxed Special Hobby kit) Super Etendard (Re-boxed Heller kit) C-130 Hercules (no Falklands conflict decals though) Mirage IIIc (not right mark for Falklands, and very old tired kit) Vulcan B2 (old tool, maybe new tool?) Victor K2 Nimrod MR2 Sea Harrier FRS.1 Harrier GR.3 Gazelle AH.1 Scout AH.1 Seaking HC.4 (not Falklands decals or configuration) Lynx HAS.2 (not Falklands Decals) A lot of these are no longer available, or are in need of modifications. Other manufacturers also do Falklands era aircraft, like Wessex ( both HAS.3 and Hu.5 are available), MB.339AA, Mirage IIIEA, IAI Dagger and Turbo Mentor, but again note that they may not be available right now or be hard to find. I'm a fan of the Falkland's conflict aircraft and have built the following; Vulcan Victor Nimrod 2 x Harrier Chinook Gazelle 2 x Sea Harrier (light and dark grey camo) Lynx x 2 (Royal Navy and Argentine Navy) Seaking Wessex HAS.3 2 x Skyhawk (air force and navy) MB.339AA Pucara I have the following waiting to be built; Seaking HC.4 Gazelle (Marines) Twin Otter (looking for Argentine decals for this one)
  8. No Problem Nathan, Here's my builds of this kit; /media/tinymce_upload/38f72ea8fa160dad8f5e8477d764632f.jpg /media/tinymce_upload/c7db433e5e7520853b89840a20bd5499.jpg /media/tinymce_upload/2af747bcdc2eda680fa557e2f85fd0ec.jpg /media/tinymce_upload/dbc673b3c7735ad845226ef95d1f1664.jpg
  9. Hi Nathan, Welcome to the forum, and to our hobby. My builds usually take about a month to complete, working two or three evenings a week for a couple of hours. As you say, others may work much quicker, or take longer. The Skyhawk isn't a bad kit to start with, fairly easy to put together. It has received some bad press from perfectionists but when finished it looks like what it is meant to be. Jason
  10. My Latest entry, 1/72 Focke Wulf Fw 190D-9 Luftwaffe 1945 /media/tinymce_upload/20dcf309f573355fc8d7c8bd212ed169.jpg /media/tinymce_upload/a3296b07d27244614716f8133ec36979.jpg /media/tinymce_upload/1a6b4bbe9391f83407a0c1c80db03fc0.jpg /media/tinymce_upload/7c15167ef9a6e544c10caf669f177a70.jpg
  11. Thanks for the colour call out James, is that the Revell Bv 222, I have one in the stash.
  12. At the moment I'm building a 1/72 F-101B Voodoo from Revell, but I'm having trouble sourcing the all over grey paint for it. it's suppose to be FS16473 Air Defence Command Grey, anyone know a good equivalent from Humbrol?
  13. Like the Me 410 Ratch, as well as all the others, West German TSR 2 Tiger Meet what if, very nice.
  14. I've been doing some 'Lockdown' online shopping while working from home and being very bored. /media/tinymce_upload/3d4400e8487b3c1dadbdbb53f3c04ffd.jpg /media/tinymce_upload/8a1eef7c9dca686258e8dbc772432ef3.jpg /media/tinymce_upload/29ea6e835aa57fb32b8284c3e8a16097.jpg /media/tinymce_upload/8e1d86a78078eefded5aaf0664642465.jpg /media/tinymce_upload/fe3df529eb559199befecf7eced7b772.jpg The Xtradecals are for the Typhoon, I know it includes the same display scheme, but there are another 4 Typhoons on the sheet. I plan to do an 11 Sqn one with black tail and spine. Looking forward to the Demon as something a little different to my normal diet.
  15. Very nice Helldiver PMM. I take it that this was the old Airfix molding. I had the opportunity to see one at an airshow about 20 years ago. It had flown in from Texas for a Rosie the Riveters reunion and documentary for the women who build Helldivers at a local plant. It was indeed a beast! What is the RN serial number on your model? Thanks Hurricane Boy, It's not an Airfix kit, those trench like panel lines are a clue to its origin! The serial is JW194 I think, one of a few Helldivers operated by the RN (26 delivered out of 450 ordered) by 1820 NAS, but never saw operations.
  16. The paint colour Humbrol references are all there on the diagrams, they are the small numbers without the cirles round them, eg on the first diagram the bit that sticks out the bow (I don't know sailing ship terms!) has numbers 33 (matt black) and 22 (gloss white) on it.

  19. Hi Thomas, Thanks for the comment. Most of the decals are from the kit, except for the individual aircraft markings which are from a FROG sheet. I did have trouble with the kit images being very thin, and had to scrap one of the many red crossed markings from the fuselage top. My reckoning being that it was a replacement panel that hadn't been fully marked up yet!
