  1. No need to write a description, the title says it all. Be brilliant to have the sound, particularly the fantastic horn the APT had as seem on several U-tube videos shwoing the train in action.
  2. Please can we have the matching DVT, DCC ready with front headlamps/tail lamps and a cab light working off a second function to suit the new Class 91 loco.
  3. The Hornby express points are great pieces of track. They have been in the range since the early 1980s. Please could we have diamond crossovers in express length and angles. regards Nick
  4. Hi all, totally agree new roof required. This coach just does not look right; I have one with the kitchen fans etc and one without ! Of course would welcome retooled Mark 3s but would like to see Mark 4s and a DVT ahead of that. And could we simply have the correct coloured interior seating on current coaches. regards Nick
  5. Hi, DCC is absolutely the right way to go. It gives you total flexibility and no hassles. I have not had any issues with Hornby decoders, NONE. I use an Elite and 4 Selects as walkabouts, Hornby power boosters etc, no issues. I do not use power buses, just two wires to the track via a Hornby Power connector. I strongly recommend you use Hornby point de-isolating clips in all your points so all the track is live all the time. I am not clear as to what challenges some of the other respondees have faced but of course they have had those experiences. (I was also a successful Zero One user by the way) The beauty of DCC is avoiding all those isolating rails, being able to use lights and sounds as you wish, and just being able to operate your layout with total flexibility. regards Nick
  6. HI, I never experienced any issues programming the Bachmann decoders years ago with the early Select firmware. Of course there were much more limited Cvs that could be managed with the older version so the recommendation to upgrade your Select to v1.6 is perfect !
  7. Hi . I have several of the excellent Sapphire Decoders which are no longer in production. Can you use one of these in the Bachmann Clas 90 and operate the Pantograph? I object to the other manufacturer designing their loco requiring only their decoder; given the numerous functionality of the Sapphire, I am hoping the answer is yes! regards Nick
  8. HI, there is no need to disconnect the elite main track power, I have had a programming track in place for over 12 years and have never had a problem with the main layout getting reprogramming. cheers nick
  9. Fazy, thank you for responding with data; and how critical this is as part of the discussion. Very telling that in relative terms, the locos are cheaper, and there is no comparison between the current Princess and the 1980 version. Down here in Australia, things were even more expensive than in the UK due to distributor costs years ago. I paid in actual todays money £80 for my 5 car APT. I loved it, make no mistake. But take a look. The New one is going to be £380 full price. We are talking 40 years ago! And we can imagine the difference in motor, pick ups, additional parts, moulding accuracy and detailed decoration, lighting, DCC ready etc. It's is a sad fact that we have given our manufacturing businesses away in general; make no mistake, there is no issue with quality of items made in China to specs supplied from western companies at all. Its not just the direct manufacturing cost, the savings extend right through the whole value chain, including tooling costs, raw materials, you name it. I choose items today just like I did when I was a teenager; carefully! Lets all support the hobby as much as we can within our means, and celebrate the quality of the items we are now offered.

    Class 319 EMU

Hi all Any interest for a Class 319; lots of liveries to choose from. I would have a NSE and probably a Blue/Grey Mod Note - title changed to read EMU from DMU - see later comment.
  11. Hi, Would be great to have a pack from Hornby to add lighting to Mark 2 and Mark 3 coaches. Pack to include pick ups for wheels, LED lighting unit (soft lighting not bright white), and availale in 2 different lengths to correctly illuminate full length of Mk 3s. Might even need to be a replacement bogie so pre wired.
  12. For some time the incorrect flat roof has been on the Mark 3 TRUB coach, ie no ventilators etc. Would be great to see this fixed.
  13. Hi all, I would love to see the following pieces added to the Hornby track system. Anyone else please as I have been asking for the first one for some time! Express cross over for both L/H and R/H Express points in left and right hand orientation Cross over Section to interface with 4 existing express points to make a major cross over within the standard track spacing 3rd/4th Radius Curved points L/H and R/H to enable use on 3rd and 4th radius curved set track Happy modelling all regards Nick
  14. Hi, many great suggestions already made. For me: Class 87 Advanced Pasenger Train - Prototype Class 58 Class 86 Happy Hornby Modelling everyone !
