The Gannet finished as XA460, 849NAS HQ Training Flight 1959, as this is the Ulster Aviation Society airframe that is currently under restoration it was an obvious one for me. An amazing kit with absolutely no fit problems, goes together perfectly. Painted with main colors airbrushed using Mr Hobby and smaller details brush painted with Hataka and Citadel.

The new Sea King built using CTA Decals as XV654, R050, 824NAS HMS Ark Royal 1970, an absolutely fantastic kit..

T The latest Black Buck release of the Vulcan finished as XM607 using Mr Hobby paints.

The latest boxing of the Airfix 1 /48 Hunter finished as GA.11 Fleet Requirements and Development Unit 1976, Ulster connection, in November 1974 this aircraft was delivered to RNAY Sydenham in Belfast to receive modernisation, it was returned to duty wearing this scheme on the 17th of July 1975. This is a lovely kit to build and looks fantastic in the FAA scheme.

1/48 Defiant finished as L7026 PS-V, this was being flown by Desmond Hughes on the 26th of August 40 when he scored his double kill of two Dornier 17s.

Recently I have been building Airfix 48th kits as aircraft with a local RAF connection a bit of research needed but thankfully getting the markings sorted hasn't been too difficult. Boulton Paul Defiant N1801 264Sqn , Desmond Hughes the pilot was from Donaghadee in County Down he operated 1801 from December 40 until October 41, in May 41 he was flight commander of B flight and was deployed to RAF Nutts Corner to provide night fighter coverage following the Belfast Blitz,during his time there he had the chance to beat up his family home in Donaghadee. Avro Anson, YG-E, 502 (Ulster) Sqn, RAF Aldergrove 1940, used in the Coastal Command role until replaced with the Whitley. Curtis Tomahawk Mk.II AH920 VM-A , 231Sqn RAF Maghaberry 19 this aircraft had engine failure and force landed in Arklow, it was moved by road to the Irish Air Corps station at Baldonnal where it was repaired and flown back to Northern Ireland. Spitfire Mk Vb, PK-P, 315 (City Of Deblin) Sqn,, RAF Ballyhalbert August 1943, this is one of three aircraft that crashed in bad weather on 11th September 1943 over Co Antrim, the pilot Sgt Zygmund survived, the other pilots were sadly killed. Hawker Hurricane Mk.I, DX-? Sqn Ldr JL Simpson 245 Sqn RAF Aldergrov 1940, Sqn Ldr Simpson shot down a Heinkel 111 in this aircraft close to Downpatrick in 1941. I've still a few more local ones to build including the 502 Sqn Vampire. I hope you like the builds and history.

The new 48th Buccaneer completed as 809NAS S. 2b HMS Ark Royal. Photographed with XV361 at the Ulster Aviation Society, the airframe scanned for the model. A fantastic kit with no build or fit problems at all and the best detail yet on any Airfix kit.

The last Canberra to fly in Royal Air Force service was Shorts Belfast built PR.9 XH131, in 2011 it was moved thanks to funding from the National Lottery and a tem of volunteers from the Ulster Aviation Society from Kemble to the he UAS collection at Maze/Long Kesh. This is the Airfix 1/48th kit finished as XH131 in its final scheme of hemp with Lt aircraft grey lowers. The kit has a few accuracy problems, not least a cockpit that is not even slightly similar to a PR.9 and a uselessdecal sheet with oversized and wrong coloured markings. Would like a 1/48th Puma to add to my Op Banner lineup , multiple boxing possibilities, HC.1 early plus French ALAT schemes, HC.1 upgrade with wide chord blades , filters and defensive fit. Oversea versions, German Bundesgreshutz , Argentinian , French modern schemes. A nice 1978 boxing of the DeHavilland Beaver AL1 , will be finished as an AAC one from Aldergrove mid 80s as flown by a mate.

Picked one of thse up in my LMS today for six quid ,1st issue ,it is as nice as I remembered and deserves a new full release not just kitstarter.
