  1. Just asking, are you using a PIKO track connector to power your track? These have an EMC suppressor and that makes reading/writing CV’s impossible.
  2. For the moment, I have no need for a non-Hornby Stay-alive, but if my small stock runs out before new ones appear, and I can find a EU retailer who sells them, I will try a DCC-concepts one. But with clean track, and 8 or more pick-ups no troubles so far. Only my A5 so far needs one, and possibly my Y1, J50’s and J70, but these aren’t on the roster yet.
  3. Nice to put the PECO 7-planks in the spotlight. And if the dates are a little bit correct, this month might (may…) be a bit expensive for some. For me it already is, even with the 15%, mostly used on magnetic vacuum pipe couplings and TXS decoders.
  4. LNER dia 131, 164 and 165 TPO had side corridors, as afaik, the GNR/LNER dia 310 stowage van. If and when these were replaced or removed, I can not say.
  5. Calling the people who work on this amateurs and idiots will surely speed up the process.
  6. I am one of the happy few/many, that wouldn’t trade for anything out there. It ease of using, and play value is what won me over. Previous experience was with my father’s Lenz system on his LGB Garden layout, RM with eLink and Roco z21. The latter I stil use for programming non BLE decoders, or when my phone is charging/downloading a new profile. Making the function maps, exporting them and using them for other class members is also a big added value to me. I have done some far away from home, and assigned them later. Another is the fact that the layout is so simple that even with longer periods without time to operate, or even to look at any model trains, you just can’t forget how it al worked. And don’t get me started on changing CV’s on TXS decoders, no need to write down which CV does what, it’s in the app! of course, there are some negative points. I started it on an Android phone (an old Nokia, I mus lt admit) and it was slow, often loosing connection, to the point that I bought some stay-alives (before they were quickly sold out, another negative point) but of course this didn’t change anything. Not until I got a IPhone 12 (my wife’s hand me down) just in time for the holidays, and that really kick-started my appreciation for HM7000. No more connection loss, quick sound profile loading times (quick enough to do some funny combo’s…) Other lesser points are the long waiting times for about everything, from the dongle to non-sound decoders, and the not always clear communication from Hornby, apart from the great but almost never read manual. And I still haven’t forgotten the cancelled TTS profiles!! All in all, a good system, with everything in it to become great. Don’t forget, it’s only on the market for a year and a half, and most of the initial problems seem to be gone. Now just hoping for more sound profiles, and if anyone from HH is reading along, there is quite some interest from this side of the channel, so don’t wait to long…
  7. Thanks for that, I have 2003 and 2005, and thought that 2007 was different, because of the steam generator. I am on holiday, so not possible to check the. Sorry to hear you had to send it back. Let’s hope for a swift return.
  8. Is it DCC controlled? I was under the impression that all firebox flicker from Hornby were permanent?
  9. Duchess of Athol was a non-streamlined Coronation, she had steps, not a ladder.
  10. The new type connections on both my P2’s and both my A1’s work perfect. Is the Black 5 from a different factory?
  11. Thanks for the pictures. If there was any doubt (not from me) TT120 is here to stay. The upcoming models and recent YT-interviews prove that.
  12. I have to say, for me, HM7000 brought the fun back in DCC. The ease of reading, writing and playing with the settings without the abstractness of CV numbers. Everything’s there, with the description and all, just with a touch of a finger.
  13. Thanks. On the A1 (OO) it has the whistle preset, not the brake sound.
  14. You still have to choose the sounds you would like to play on AFC. For brake you have to alter CV60, switch on F4.
  15. ‘Don’t mention the Beatles!’ 😀
