Nope Jim, your 100% correct, the devils in the details. I use small brass pipes and insert these in the chimney stacks. We Queenslander/ Australians are not experts in fireplaces or chimneys. We do build indoor brick fireplaces and chimneys through roof's just for looks but mostly for the 4 days of the year when the Temp drops below 20Deg Celcius. Terrible drought here at the moment, we can't light a fire cause a spark will set everything off, and we haven't got much water left to put it out. Can't even mow the lawn lest a spark off the lawn mower blades is all it takes, by the time you run back to it with a garden hose its too late. If you can imagine walking on grass and have it make a cracking sound with each footprint on the dry lawn. It also drives the snakes up into the houses looking for water and food, they are big enough to punch a hole in a window fly screen with their head and come into the house looking to eat your dog or cat. The sharks have of course moved closer to the beaches while its drier looking for food and up at the very north the Crocodiles are currently extra hungry cause the extra rain at the start of the year caused the floods and most of the inland animals drowned. So no food inland and the Croc's move to the coast beaches, and then feed on the sharks. Which sounds hard but a 6 metre Crocodile can pretty much do whatever its wants. and being closer to holidays we'll all be taking our children to the beaches soon as well. The extra dry means the birds and giant lizards don't breed so much, the bonus is extra spiders who have less things eating them so they have grown bigger and can jump further with more powerful venom when they bite us. Thanking you all again for sending us out here, we've been having a great time and busying ourselves with Airfix models, Hornby Trains and Scalextric cars to take our minds off things. I notice Her Majesty doesn't visit here often by the way, Cant imagine why!
