  1. Blimey they went quickly. Glad I got the order confirmed before they all disappeared.
  2. Back in stock at the same great price. Have just ordered three, along with some other bits to make up an order!
  3. Many thanks for all the guidance and advice.
  4. Oh ok. So two of these and a single Hornby R8249 would work? Not come across those LaisDCC decoders before.
  5. Yes indeed you’re right! I took a punt (last minute) on the reduced priced APT set late yesterday. Think I hooked one of the last in stock. Not used TMC before, and thought I’d missed out as I never got a confirmation email or anything until early today. Tracking shows it’s due first thing tomorrow. Was also pleased to also get free delivery, so upgraded to Royal Mail tracked 24 for a few pounds. Thanks for the advice about the decoders. I’ve got a couple of Hornby R8249’s, so I’ll get another one.
  6. I'm awaiting a brand new Hornby R3873 APT set arriving tomorrow. I read that the APT set needs three DCC decoders to operate fully (including lighting). There seems to be a suggestion that space is very tight when you undo the flaps on the bottom of the set. If I used three 8 pin Hornby R8249, is that going to be very tight, or would a different decoder from someone else be a better choice? Thanks
  7. Thanks for the heads up. These seem remarkably cheap - have your orders actually been processed/fulfilled at £6.95? I've not come across Railwaymodelstore before, so wasn't sure if this is an error or not! Thanks
  8. Hope this is helpful below: https://uk.hornby.com/community/forum/hornby-class-50-r2350?ccm_paging_p=5&ccm_order_by=&ccm_order_by_direction= This original link above may provide some useful information with regards to discussion on the Class 50 and converting to DCC. My own personal experience (detailed below from back in 2017) sorted the issue by simply buying a X9788 PCB for a Class 56: Details below: http://www.petersspares.com/hornby-x9788-class-56-main-pcb-board.ir This PCB (X9788 for a Class 56) does indeed definitely work perfectly, in the original Hornby Class 50 (R2350). My loco came out the Hornby factory with a short circuit on the original fit PCB. Despite recently (2017) talking with Hornby, they no longer have the ‘modified’ PCB version available, so could offer no solution, other than sending the loco to them for them to await a donor part to become available. The loco and lighting work just fine on DC, but as soon as you remove the blanking plate and put a DCC decoder in, the DCC controller then short circuits. Turning the decoder 180 degrees doesn’t make any difference either. As I didn’t want to blow the chip up, I removed it! The PCB does need to be the exact one shown in your photo (X9788) with the black jumpers at either end. There is a second later version of the X9788 with white pre wired connectors either, which isn’t suitable and clearly is different. As my Class 50 is now running perfectly, I thought this information may help others.
  9. Perfect. Thanks. I have a new (2022) Class 91 which already has a 21 pin non sound DCC decoder in it, so I was going to simply remove that and reinstall it in the DVT unit (just to operate the few lighting functions), then buy a new Hornby HM7000 21 pin sound decoder for the loco. I don’t think class 91 sounds are yet available, but hopefully they will at some point. I have an iPhone 11 Pro (and iPad Pro 10.5), so the app runs fine on those and would allow me easy config, but final control and running of sounds using my elite in the traditional way.
  10. If I bought a new Hornby R7322 or R7336 Bluetooth sound chip for my locos, can I still operate that loco using my Elite and Select? I could initially download the sounds using my iPhone (via Bluetooth), but can I then continue to operate the loco and the sounds using either Elite or Select controller? Any guidance would be appreciated.
  11. Thanks for the clarification on the functions.
  12. I got the new R40147 and there is nothing in the box about the functions. Just the usual Hornby leaflet about fitting a 21pin decoder and 'working lights' flash advert on the outer packaging. The two function decoder - I'm just wondering if that would that be sufficient to deal with the cab lighting and directional lighting?
  13. I’ll try and contact Hornby next week to clarify, as I still can’t get any definitive answer. In the meantime, I’ve got a new 21 pin Ruby two function decoder. Would that work function wise, does anyone know? Thanks in advance.
  14. Thank you ever so much. As a novice in this area, I was wondering if an Imperium 1 21 Pin 6 function decoder would be OK?
