  1. Hi Steve, the bolts are M4 x 16mm long countersunk head, and using half lock nuts as the profile is slimmer than a standard nut, they are longer than needed and will eventually be cut to a more sensible length, these will also be used as part of the lighting power circuit, just as an aside i could have used M3 bolts/nuts but the M4 heads fit nice and snug in the existing holes and once tight they sit flush with the floor, HTH,
  2. I have made a start on converting my old triang pullman coaches into my version of the 2 tone blue articulated coronation coaches, here are a few pictures of where i have got to so far, this may take a few more weeks to complete, cheers /media/tinymce_upload/716a65d5acf4004da642b8cc63f53d4a.JPG /media/tinymce_upload/c21390ce446d783ddcbdcaf998291a40.JPG /media/tinymce_upload/a7a56027913b6ab6765d310852ba1cc5.JPG /media/tinymce_upload/c30fda5a229a4b483e5abbda3ef8b90e.JPG /media/tinymce_upload/15f3152b541ab2a876dfdd60c00570fa.JPG /media/tinymce_upload/26e4a241af510be6cea70372126f5268.JPG /media/tinymce_upload/87e2c77f9649e3a39c17918c0a106434.JPG /media/tinymce_upload/d1bd56cc4cbb0db64bf98f62da9fca8b.JPG /media/tinymce_upload/5eebfc984dae47c8d0fb534c009c9a48.JPG /media/tinymce_upload/e76c634fee8db96702303f7d6ba75a55.JPG
  3. had a reply email from GAM, and there are 4 very small very well hidden screws in the chassis of the beavertail coach, so i won't have to dremel it to fit figures and lighting 😆
  4. It's commissioned by Golden Age Models, just to add, this is made from brass, and is in no way in direct competition with Hornby,
  5. Like this, /media/tinymce_upload/930b5080b745e475568e327fa32be0b1.JPG
  6. Hi Jimbo, i was very lucky to get it, when i first saw it i was a bit puzzled by the price until i researched where it came from, and if the Cat Controller goes anywhere near it he'll end up with a kick up the arris 😆,
  7. Hi all, most of you know of my desire for an LNER Coronation Beavertail Observation Coach, and i have had this on my wishlist from hornby for a good couple of years, well thanks to a lucky ebay purchase at the weekend in have got one, not a Hornby model i hasten to add, cheers, /media/tinymce_upload/512a607b646ec3f2b700b00be5e353c0.JPG
  8. @ foxee don't know yet, but HB's link offers some good choices, might have to buy a couple of each and see what works best lol, thanks for the link HB, cheers, @RAF, any chance you could give a rough size of the TTS decoder, i have used an r8249 in my caledonian 0-4-0 pug, but if i could squeeze in a tts i will as there are some very small speakers that would probably fit in too,
  9. I have the same loco, and have just ordered the same TTS decoder( earlier this morning), and was going to fit it tomorrow afternoon ( due to arrive by 11am), but looks like it will have to wait, till i can order a suitable sugar cube speaker, i have no intention of messing about with the tender, also looks to be the same with my FS model too, so that will also have to wait,
  10. Made mine a couple of years ago, http://www.modelrailwayforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=7417
  11. have a google for seuthe smoke oil,
  12. Hornby may well implement something like that Rob, as when i did the survey earlier today there was mention of a new digital control system, can't remember what they called it, but they did imply it was a pc based system,
  13. Well getting back on topic for this thread, my list would be, A1,A3,A4, B1 x 2, class 08 x 2 ( if i could get them to fit somehow), class 25 x 2, class 26, class 42, class 43 x 6, class 50, class 52, class 55, class 110, i think that's all my current decoderless locos, there might be a few more to add over the coming weeks,
  14. Hornby already sell the Sapphire and the basic decoder, having another decoder as a seperate item is not beyond them, these are made by a third party branded as Hornby, it would be no different with a TTS decoder, if anything it could become a staple product that keeps them in the black, there might be more profit in TTS fitted loco, but they would no doubt sell more decoders for retro fitting, after doing a bit of browsing, i found that TCS are producing a WOW sound decoder with 6 functions but it has a price tag to match, i don't think that Hornby would lose out at selling the TTS decoders as an aftermarket product, if anything it would provide a healthy bit of competition against the other manufacturers, there is also the My loco sound decoders which are a generic sound decoder which are currently selling for £55, so from my research into the different decoders i would think that Hornby could quite easily market the TTS as a seperate item for around the £30-£40 mark,
  15. I agree with Poliss, lets say 100 sales of £100 for a loco, or 1000 sales of a £25-£30 sound decoder, it's a no brainer as far as i'm concerned and there is no reason why Hornby can't do both, have a limited run each year of TTS locos, but make the decoders available as a seperate item, people who want the loco will still buy as will people who just want a decoder, everybody wins,
  16. Hi Raf, in the link you posted on the first page, he does have a couple of 9mm ones, but does state on one of them for experimental use, but they are only a quid or so each, the ones i have converted are bo-bo bogies, i can see that with a co-co bogie the central wheelset would be fouled up by the motor, i have had a look around for a 9mm thick motor but the only ones i have come across are 32mm diameter, apart from the guy in finland i can't seem to find any that would work, the only other way would be to commission a manufacturer to make one, but it all come down to cost,
  17. Hi Raf, these are the ones, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lima-motor-replacement-Susumotor-free-shipping-/252250148245?hash=item3abb47cd95:g:YwIAAOxy6~BR0evQ still can't make the links clickable, i will one day though 🤐
  18. 2 more motors arrived today, so i got both of my HST power cars done, which took about 15mins to do both, i still have 2 class 25's to do when i get some more motors,
  19. Hi Raf, it's the same seller I got mine from,
  20. Hi Raf, you might want to try susumotor, instead of susimotor, also the machine screws i think are m1.6 x 6mm, i just ordered some so when they arrive will have a better idea,
  21. Hi Raf, the motor is a susumotor from ebay, it does require some mods to the original housing and once done it can't be used again without major surgery for a ringfield so be warned, the original bearing in the housing has to be removed and the hole enlarged to fit the cd motor casing flange about 6mm, then i used the original 3 pole pinion gear and enlarged the shaft hole slightly, the new motor has fixing holes on the shaft side which are used to secure it to the housing with some very small machine screws, i don't know what size they are i had them in my bits box, i had to make some plastic washers which are simple, when fitted i used some heatshrink tubing with superglue on the shaft then glued the pinion gear on, rebuilt the rest of the gearing and wheels wired up as normal dc and tested, 2e0tdoeric, haha, i'm modelling an over used landfill site at the moment 🤐
  22. Here is a short running session video of a ringfield motor conversion to a cd player motor, it is a Hornby class 110 power car pulling a rake of 11 coaches, cheers
  23. last few items have been a class 25 in blue, a rake of intercity mk3's, 3 parcels express coaches and a parcels express van, just waiting on a class 55 and a shunters truck, and some decoders and a load of spares, also today i have bought 3 blue 4 wheel coaches, and another class 25 in green form the bay, and a few more blood and custard coaches are on their way too,
  24. the problem is trying to run before they can walk, intoducing a few new items at a time rather than going ahead with a complete new range would be the most appropriate way, the way i would do it would be to have a poll, have a list of 10 items that are in the pipeline for being produced, and then produce top five, then once those are in production have another poll with some new items, and with the study data you will see a picture of what will be desirable in the future, so come on Hornby produce what we want not what you think we want, hope i'm not being too harsh,
  25. peco have an unsurpassed range, 3 way points, double slips, vast amount of points with varying radius turnouts, crossovers that have different degrees, they even have a 90 degree crossover, so why can't Hornby produce these,
