  1. Thanks. I just came in from BEJ Train Shed to report I'd solved the issue. I changed (ie reversed) the default sequence that RM puts in when you click on the signal type. That did the trick. Worth remembering! If I can!!
  2. Problem with TrainTech Colour Light Signal with RH Route Indicator. I had this nicely set up with two signal icons, one for the signal itself, and one, with the 2nd port address, for the indicator. I noted that the handling of these signals has supposed to have improved with the new version of RM, so I thought I'd change to the "correct" icon for this signal. Mistake. As before, there is no separate control of the route indicator and it is ALWAYS illuminated when the signal is set to clear. OK, I'll just change it back to what it was. Now the red/green signal is out of sync with the symbol on the layout plan and "Reverse Polarity" has no effect. I've tried deleting the signal from the plan and replacing it, but still the same. "When it works, leave well alone"! Any help on this, please?
  3. Having already updated to v1.70 (update automatically offered on running program), on loading RM now, there is no offer to update to this very latest version. So will have to be done manually.
  4. I just installed the update on to my Lenovo Ideapad 520s with "Intel HD Graphics 620" and I am having HUGE problems with the display. When I click on a loco for the expanded throttle window, the window gets "pushed" around the screen by the mouse pointer. When I click in the window, part of it disappears showing the main window below. I had similar issues with an earlier release where the expanded throttle window got "stuck" to the mouse pointer. That problem all-but went away with a later version. This is similar but not quite the same. Stop Press: Before posting this, I decided to try adjusting settings in the Intel Graphics setup. Remarkably, by changing Scaling: "Maintain Display Scaling" to "Maintain Aspect Ratio", the problem seems to have gone away. I am recording this here in case someone else experiences something similar. I will now contiune with my trials of the new release. Can't wait to try out the Hand Held "app"! I have the TTS Vent van and very disappointed to find that the sound functions are not populated. A very odd oversight. At least F28 is there. I like being able to have the large throttle windows open "large" as default, as per the .ini file setting.
  5. Any sign of these much awaited updates? I guess the answer is "no" else the link at the top of the page would have been updated!
  6. Thank you for the further clarification. Noddy guides work for me! As I don't have an Elite I will have to wait and meanwhile look for a suitable power supply for my Select.
  7. Gosh, a lot more info. Thank you. And, if I'm reading this correctly, without an Elite, the Select I have, (which I suspect doesn't even have 1.5, not that that's relevant to this), cannot be connected to PC to work with RM? Also, when 1.6 is available, Hornby have updated my Select, and I have purchased the new cable, I will then be able to connect my Select to my PC and it will not need a new power supply for that? I had not taken in that the power connector was the same as for the eLink. I did buy a non-Hornby power supply for my eLink to uprate it from the supplied 1A one. As I recall I found it on amazon.es (I'm in Spain). But, if I'm right, I won't need to look for another one. My occasional neighbour (visitors from UK) likes to help out when he's here and I'm sure he'd love to get his hands on the Select connected in to RM. By then, though, it looks like we might get a handheld app working on my Samsung tablet. It was painful to watch him trying to use that with the existing "app" before we gave up on it! Thank you all. John
  8. Thanks Rob for that. Very useful. So it seems I can use my Select as a "walkabout" already? Am I right in assuming I need v1.5 (reading your post again, it seems not for limited functionality? I didn't know that). How can I tell what I have? What cable is needed? I am sure all the answers must be somewhere but feeling lazy and risking the wrath of some! My Select needs a new power supply. Can I use some generic PSU? John
  9. Rob. You used the word "app". Does the rumour mill say this is going to be a proper Android "app" rather than the current committee meeting of an application?
  10. For those who, like me, have an old Select and are interested in the new cable (which requires the Select to be upgraded to Firmware 1.6) I pass on what I heard from Hornby when I recently contacted them in order to get this done. I was told:- "the current release date for the 1.6 firmware is currently August/ December 2019". A very broad window so I am certainly not holding my breath!
  11. One more thought - do you have your system configured to "Set points on startup" ? I believe this setting covers signals as well. Ray Yes I do Ray.
  12. Next time one of your Dapols gets out of sync, try closing RM and reloading it, rather than changing the reverse polarity setting. See if that fixes it and let us know. Ray Ray. It just happened again ie one of my Dapol semaphors is out of sync with its symbol on the track diagram. I tried what you suggested (without reversing polarity) and I'm afraid, no joy. It's still out of sync. I tried closing and reloading RM with and without resetting the ELink as well as de-powering the ELink. So, again, I have had to resort to clicking "reverse polarity" until such time as the semaphor signal gods deem it's time to revert to the orginal setting! How very odd!!
  13. OK Ray. I'll try that. Interestingly, as I was just about to report, though I have completely closed down and opened Railmaster several times and had a couple of power down cycles since, without the anything changing, yesterday when I booted up, the signal was back in sync and I unticked reverse polarity. Let's see what happens next time and I'll do what Ray suggests...........
  14. I have mentioned this oddity in passing but this just happened again and I have paid more attention this time. I have 2 Dapol powered semaphor signals controlled via a Train-Tech SC3 decoder which has been produced specifically to control these signals on a DCC system. Without understanding what was happening, I have occasionally had to tick the 'reverse polarity' box in one or other of the controls for these signals to keep them in sync with the layout diagram in Railmaster. This time I noted it occurred after a derailment caused a short when I depowered the layout to clear the derailment, resetting the DCC controller from within Railmaster. Then I found that one of my signals was out of sync and I needed to click the reverse polarity box to correct this. Several derailments later (it's not been a good couple of days) and the signal is still out of sync. In the past, this has cleared itself eventually and I have had to untick the box to get it back into sync but I have no idea what happened to correct this!
  15. @St2ngr4ay I tried my own tests earlier and concur with you and the OP as to what is happening and shouldn't be! I did try "reverse polarity" but it seems to have no effect on these signals. However, it is possible to get the signals to respond as the OP requires by setting GREEN instead of RED in the "other point signal" box, third column. However, that means that the icon on the layout plan is then incorrect. The signals turn red as required but the icons show greem. Obviously, given the bug, you can't have it both ways. Programs are definitely the way to go and my layout plan is rapidly filling up with 50x50 pixel buttons!
  16. @St1ngr4y Ray, I didn't mean to catch you out!! Latest Train-Tech signal problem for me, which is really a repeat of one before, I think. I have one double-headed home signal. In effect they are two separate home signals. They behaved correctly when clicked on the layout plan. However, with one of them, when trying to set it to "Stop" from a programme, would briefly go red then immediately back to green again. In a different program, where it is set to "Clear", it correctly stayed on green! So I practised what I preached and changed the address of the rogue signal. Voila, it's now working correctly both from programs and from the icon on the layout plan. The mysteries of Railmaster and Train-Tech signals! Next! By the way, for what it's worth:- I have recording of a signal box bell (there is a selection of these to be found online). At the end of each program, I get it to play that sound. It sounds good but, more importantly, it tells me that the program has finished running. I find that very useful. John
  17. @St1ngr4y Ray, I noticed for the first signal you have Decoder Type set up as 'Train Tech Colour Light Signal'; the second signal as 'Train-Tech PC2 4-Port Decoder'; and the third as 'Hornby R8247 4-Port Decoder'. Might that have affected your tests? Like you, I think, I am relying more and more on programs to achieve the desired results!
  18. I have had various issues with Train-Tech signals and Railmaster. The last obscure problem I had was successfuly cured by registering the signals to brand new ID numbers, not used before. I think there must have been some sort of corruption within the track plan and signal set ups on the old numbers. Worth a try?
  19. I went to and from my school in Bath (Spa) by train for many years from around 1955 to late 1963. I used to wait on the platform for my 4.42 (Weymouth) train back to Trowbridge, and more latterly, Avoncliffe Halt and was always excited when the 4.34 non-stop to London Paddington steamed in, pulled usually by a Castle but sometimes a magnificent King, I already have the King (I like sound locos, funds are not "unlimited" so went for King George I TTS which is pretty nice). I've been hankering after a Castle since and kept considering buying Hornby 'Earl of St Germans' TTS for quite a while. Sudenly I find it's out of stock at Hattons and several other places. I did manage to find one at "reasonable" price from Rails of Sheffield and it arrived today, here in Spain. I have been running it in and am impressed by it's very smooth and quiet running. Sounds are pretty good but would rather have "doors slamming" rather than the ubiquitous and very silly "Fireman's Breakfast". Also, maybe AWS Bell and Siren rather than a couple of the various steam control sounds; the difference between these meaning little to me, I'm afraid. Having said that, the souds are pretty good and I am extremelt pleased with my purchase. I have even found that, with care, it will run without incident on my inner loop of Radius 1 track, something my other big locos are fairly unhappy with.
  20. I have to say, now I've got them installed and working, I love my 2 Dapol semaphore signals but am now gradually fitting the Train-Tech Once Touch colour signals (no additional decoder needed as its built in). Very easy to install and set up but they are not really contemporary with the period I am trying to mimic with my layout, although colour light signals were rapidly replacing the old signals towards the end! There is something else to bear in mind. The Dapol signal requires a 14mm hole to be drilled in the baseboard. Chose the location of your signal very carefully, confirming clearances of locos and coaches on bends and points particularly. I am speaking from bitter experience with two, large unwanted holes in my baseboard!! I agree that the light signals are not so visible either. I'm in the same boat and would, if money were no object, have fitted all semaphore signals! With Railmaster, I've had to find ways round the fact that the software does not fully, correctly, support all of the TT models, eg the Two Aspect with feather indicator had to be setup as two signals.
  21. I'm sure you could get that price down by shopping around. After a quick search I could get 2 signals and an SC3 Controller for £78. Not cheap but less than you thought! I have fitted two of these (having destroyed one when installing it). The Dapol signals are very, very fragile, in my experience! So take great care.
  22. I had my 0-6-0 diesel shunter fitted with proper "stay alive" capacitors (which also meant the cost of a new DCC decoder) by http://www.oliviastrains.com/ It was NOT cheap (send them the details and they'll give you a price) but worth it for me as it just keeps running, without a pause, over all my track and points. I'm "saving up" to have another of my 0-6-0s done. I have one which has a blown decoder so it will be killing two birds with one (or more) chips!
  23. I recently bought a Hornby R3384TTS BR 4-6-0 'King George I' 6000 King Class, Late BR with TTS Sound and very pleased I am with it too. At 109GBP from Rails of Sheffield I thought this was a real bargain. It's not a Railroad model so has a lot of detail, runs well and the TTS sound is pretty good. Not quite as effective as the sound on Gadwall, I don't think but I am sure I can improve it by tweaking the sound balances.
