  1. 100% agree, dont like seeing electric locos running without overhead catenary. Could at least put a diesel loco on front as if the train has been diverted off its main route.
  2. According to information in the Spring club magazine they are due on 17th May, but allow for any shipping delays. Hopefully wont be too long now. 🙂
  3. Not sure that I like the changes to this forum which seem to have been made over night? Is this just temporary or permanent changes?
  4. Well the class 86 and 87's would be a good option especially as they are now also working in Eastern Europe. Having worked on the real locos I would defiantly be in the market for an 86 and 87.
  5. Wow, that's great work. I like how you have got the scenery to blend nicely with the backscene. Look forward to seeing you layout develop.
  6. He's probably pre-ordered two for double heading. 🙂
  7. Also other MK1 variants, SK,SO, RMB or RB and BG would be nice eventually. 🙂
  8. Ballasting is one of the jobs that I don't mind doing, I enjoy laying the track, wiring and ballasting. Its when it comes to doing the main scenery that I tend to get bored and want to start again lol... 🙂
  9. Nice fleet of tankers there. Weathering looking good.
  10. I have a couple of Humbrol dropper bottles and I have found that the plastic used is not as flexible as the Vallejo ones. I always keep a couple of bits of stiff wire to clear any blockages in the nozzle.
  11. Going off topic here, but in one of the Morse episodes, (which did have occasional train scenes at Oxford and Didcot) I think there were at least 6 died in one episode.
  12. Ordered 3 MK3's, a TF, TSG & Buffet on Weds with the 15% discount along with 50' brake. Estimated delivery Tues 7th May so looking forward to receiving them and see how they compare to my 00 ones. The MK3's will eventually be part of a 5 car HST rake when the HST train set arrives in October. 🙂
  13. Look foward to seeing this develope. 😀
  14. For anyone that wants to mix and match UK and European stock 37893 & 37895 would be a good option in EWS livery. They both worked in Italy from 2001 - 2003 and retained their original livery and numbers. Can't share pic due to copyright, but if anyone has the book 'British Diesel & Electric locos Abroad' is well worth a look. Page 63 shows the two 37's near Modane hauled by SNCF CC6500 loco with a Lyon to Turin train. If interested in the book its published by Pen and Sword books limited, ISBN 978 1 52674-469 2
  15. The spring magazine is now available for download, only found out looking at RMweb.. https://uk.hornby.com/community/hornbytt120-club/members-area
  16. Where are these dates please? When I look it just says expected spring 2024.
  17. Rule 1 applies for me 🙂 . If I like it then its ok to be on my layout.
  18. Placed an order yesterday and it went through ok, typed in promo code in capitals. Just and another go to test theory and it also works with lower case so promo code is not case sensitive.
  19. If its like the Autumn one it will turn up with the Summer one lol... 🙂 Hopefully it will be made available this week.
  20. The MGR's are looking good, will have to get a small rake of them 🙂 .
  21. 50's and HST's both worked into Birmingham New St on cross country services.
  22. Just to give an idea of diferance betwen N and TT 1:120 here is a pic of TT 120 scale rule on a N gauge rule. Though not an exact science, it shows 6' in N scale is approx 5' in TT. I like the idea of overlaying the doors on the N metcalfe kits. The TT rule I printed of the Scalescenes website using the 00 one at 63%.
  23. The problem I can see with that, is unless you can guarantee both motors are completely synced, ie both running perfectly the same as each other, you will encounter problems where the intermediate coaches keep derailing. Not so much of an issue where two locos are double heading but a potential problem for HST's and top and tailing. One solution which may help is if possible to add some extra weigh to the coaches.
  24. I think this subject has been discussed many times, especially for '00', The response from manufactures was that omitting the motor had very little impact on the final cost of the model. A case in point being the Heljan 00 scale class 25, the 'ETHEL' version without motor is the same RRP as the motorized version. I do agree however, if priced right then I would buy locos without motors for double heading or for additional locos for standing in a depot.
  25. Is the dongle if you want to use bluetooth operation? For 'normal' DCC you would just need the decoder. The origional post just mentions DCC thats why I suggested the Lenz decoder. Obviously a diferent mater if you want bluetooth.
