  3. My wish is for a 1/72 P-38J/L Lightning. Airfix please consider the following flaws and plusses of the current kits in the market in designing your own: Academy - erroneous shape of engine intakes; alternative cockpit transparencies do not include an all closed canopy; very good detail and panel lines; good engineering of the breakdown of parts especially wing to boom joints. Dragon - lots of fit issues especially wing to boom joints; wrong panel lines on wings; poor fit of cockpit canopy; poor propeller assembly; very nicely-shaped engine intake. Hobby Boss - erroneous shape of engine intakes though not as bad as Academy's; missing the bullet-like scoop for superchager and the antenna under the nose; wrong representation of the polished oval portion on inboard of engines; good engineering of breakdown of parts.
  4. A NEW TOOL 1/72 NORTHROP F-5A !!! It is hard to find a 1/72 F-5A these days. The old tool Airfix F-5A in the red box is not available and different boxings of this kit and the old Hasegawa offering are the ones you can find from ebay but these kits by today's standard are very poorly detailed kits. There's the simple but nice Matchbox kit which appear every now and then in ebay but pricey. The Esci kit which is the best F-5A kit in 1/72 scale even up to today is very hard to find and also expensive. It is about time that Airfix release a new tool F-5A in the standard of their new tool releases.

  9. During the '60s and '70s I like the Airfix boxarts compared to the other kits because they are more attractive. I feel the Monogram, Frog, Matchbox boxarts at that time are pale. Revell boxarts I may say is comparable to Airfix. Boxarts are important. They attract prospective buyers. I for one would buy the same kit with new boxing if I find the boxart interesting. Yes the photos of the finished models as boxarts are a letdown to me also. Of note also is the accuracy. I have kits whose boxarts have spurious markings and wrong camouflage colors.
  10. I agree with dabhand. I like the new tool kits because of their detail but enjoy the old kits because they are easy builds.
  11. I would like to see new tool 1/72 P-38F and P-38J/L
  12. Would you believe a 1960s vintage 1/72 Airfix by Craftmaster C-47 scored from ebay
