  1. Won't let me upload pic, using the picture icon.... 🫨 🫨 🫨 says not allowed....300 odd kb, surely not too big?
  2. Handley Page 00/400 finally done. Stretched sprue rigging pushedmy patience into the yellow arc at times....worth it in the end. Forum site won't let me upload image.....hugely annoying!!
  3. Yeah and the Shorts Stirling 1/72 was a good kit for its time....still quite acceptable today. To me if ever an aircraft type was crying out for some Airfix re-tool magic...it's the Halifax. Such an important aircraft but so neglected model kit wise. This is surprising considering a few surviving airframes exist. Very much like the Hurricane living in the shadow of the Spitfire...so is the Halifax and Lancaster.
  4. Yep an interesting question. I personally am not too fussed with rivet counting, as long as the kit "looks right". For example, Airfix absolutely nailed the very subtle Hurricane wing dihedral on the new tool 1/48 kit. It is a case of the wing upper surface being basically straight, with the bottom surface having a noticeable dihedral, overall giving a slight positive dihedral look. Something they did not seem to get right with the 1/24 Hurricane! I have seen some beautifully built 1/24 Hurris....but unmistakably with that horrible negative dihedral drooped wing look!
  5. Yeah I hope this is not the norm for the new Lanc kits, the Lanc S-Sugar kit looks great. I bought the Wellington Mk1a kit and was blown away by the superb surface engraving and the kit interior detail. Dry fitting of fuselage halves looks good. This must be the best Wellington kit in any scale. I expect the Lans to be as good!

    Harvard II

Wow! That's an oldie. I remember the plastic bag kits as a kid. I have great memories of the good old "Spamcan" and its famous raucous propeller buzz! The South African Air Force operated them until 1995! It was a sight to see 20 odd immaculate Harvards on the flight line, waiting to go. The SAAF colour scheme was quite distinctive. Standout memories are flying in a 9 ship Harvard formation as part of the massed flypast for Nelson Mandela's President inorgoration, Flying over huge splashes of colour from the Namaqualand Northern Cape wild flowers, the canopy open and that P&W 1340 radial snoring steadily in front. Yes, I felt guilty I was being paid todo that! How about a 1/48 re-tool Airfix!/media/tinymce_upload/a5c397f9d0a4993e5ec2fa93e4c3381e.png

I decided to go for a civilian airliner conversion....poetic licence used, losly based on references and the colour scheme classic 1920's I think! Alo, my brace of the brilliant 1/48th new tools, the awesome Hurricane Mk1 and the brutal Spitfire Mk 12 and 19. They do brighten up the office!
