  1. The window glazing is used to retain the roof. You'll need to apply pressure to the upper window edge, preferably with something plastic or wooden to minimize the risk of scratching the windows.
  2. From past experence with Dapol and Hornby 14xx models I can confirm that the crank pins a a push/friction fit.
  3. If you're not satisfied with the finish of the Railroad teaks, here's what can be done with a little wood stain/varnish (plus some paint for the totally unrealistic interior). At the back is one as it comes out of the box, the middle coated with a light oak stain (all I had to hand at the time) while the front coach recieved teak coloured varnish. /media/tinymce_upload/9f8a1eff783fa7344345698a453da985.JPG
  4. To me it sounds as if the wheels were refitted on the wrong side when the repair was done. The wheels that pick up current via the wipers should be insulated from the axle. The insulation can be a little difficult to spot but you should still be able to see the difference.
  5. This is from my most recent video running session on my 6x4 layout, Sumware.
  6. Here's a couple of my recent video efforts, one steam and one diesel.
  7. The actual operating area is only 6 feet by four feet, but a scenic area adds another 9 inches.
  8. While shots of my layout have already appeared in this thread, here's a video that I've recently made featuring some newly aquired LNER liveried stock.
  9. I'm in the process of upgrading a pair of short LNER clerestories. Body sides have been coated with teak varnish, weights have been added. Currently working on a basic interior to limit the originals see-through look. Bogies have been replaced by Railroad teak style, which have been altered to take some slim line couplers. Glazing will be replaced by South Eastern Finecast items./media/tinymce_upload/70a29b295c45e1e60a72e405f6421fd5.JPG/media/tinymce_upload/99134a542a6f63959199de13f7cd4218.JPG/media/tinymce_upload/61c0086e99ff43c1aa40307a74a008e5.JPG
  10. Is this even an Airfix product or have they licenced the use of the Airfix name and art work? I had to do a search to find any info about this game system, as it doesn't seem to be listed anywhere on this site.
  11. They did, mainly automatic pistols like the Colt .45, Luger (2 versions) Walther P.38 which were the ones I remember making.
  12. Hornby Stanier 8F via eBay, a Railroad County class "County of Hants" plus several wagons from various sourses. Also a Railroad Pullman that I intend to re-name. I also plan to improve the interiors of the rest of the Pullman rake.
  13. There wasn't a fall plate on the earlier County of Cornwall, and I doubt one has ever been included. This model is a relatively old one, certainly pre-dating the uber-detailed models of more recent times. As to the colour, what are you compairing it to? To me it seems to match other BR green locos that Hornby have produced, though they are lighter than those made by Bachmann.
  14. Three Maunsell coaches (via Hornbys "last chance") to go with the other three that I obtained for a recuced price from a local Hornby concession, plus an additional one en-route via ebay (alsofor a more reasonable price).
  15. I've just aquired one of the new Drummond 700 class 0-6-0s, and about a week ago I managed to get a trio of Maunsell coaches from a Hornby concession for a reduced price.
  16. While I posted still photos of my layout earlier in this tread, I thought I'd share a video of it in operation,
  17. @ Graskie. I did add a music track to the first video, three tracks by the Shadows, but only on the version for my own viewing. YouTube tend to jump on videos containing third party content. The music on the second video is from their own permitted content. The use of LED bulbs is something I'll look into. @ PJ, shooting videos is not that hard, if I can do it anyone can. A lot depends on the editing software you have available, such as Cyberlink Power Director, but even a more basic example like Windows Movie Maker can provide the necessary tools to create videos.
  18. Or there's this one (I really need to do something about the lighting, though the yellow cast could be lpassed off as late afternoon, early evening sun). http://youtu.be/1n0B4e_aAIc
  19. I'm no Spielberg, but here's one of my recent video attempts:
  20. For what it's worth, here's my little 6x4 layout: http://s75.photobucket.com/user/ukgeoff/slideshow/railway%20photos
  21. For what its worth, here's a couple of shots of my 6x4 tail-chaser: http://tinyurl.com/Sumware-1 http://tinyurl.com/Sumware-2 http://tinyurl.com/Sumware-3
  22. Earlier this week I received one of the 1948 Olympic limited edition train packs that were in the recent Hornby sale. At the price they were going for I basically got two premium range Gresley teaks fro free! p.s. re Graskie & walkingthedog, I thought Deltics were largely ECML locos (unless they were re-allocated later in their life).
  23. Finally received the Gresley Brake 3rd Suburban in BR livery I've had on back-order. It can now join its two companions that I obtained several months ago. http://youtu.be/1n0B4e_aAIc
