  1. Thank you for sharing your daughter's build with us. I am in awe of your daughter's dedication that is a great build , patience is a lost cause with most young ones nowadays. Fyi For barbed wire I use the wire that comes in picture hanging kits.
  2. I'm a big fan of cutting costs as I am on a tight budget. I found a set of "nail decorating brushes" with nice pink handles which are perfect for fine detailed work £2 at home bargins along with a pair of cutical cutters which are my go to side cutters (again pink). when my daughter has a clean out of her makeup boxs I grab all the brushes/pads and countless other bits n bobs I think are handy like long hair grips and her makeup brush cleaning set which I use to shake paint up , i am testing out using foundation for skin tones( so far so good looks perfect I just need to source a way of sealing it i have 3 on test atm). /media/tinymce_upload/71a39df7d1b3e03cd87c7f5d7fe4b290.JPG
  3. Just to clear up any confusion. I think the wax and polish are the same just different wording for some countries. /media/tinymce_upload/a1a44af7f1e0fb55a03fbf68668a458e.JPG
  4. I am a pledge multisurface wax user and have so far found no bad points . It has not yet let me down. I dip every canopy in it rest it on a piece of kitchen towel perfect every time. Underneath decals and over them. I brought a bottle 4yrs ago and am about 1/2 way through it. Works ok through airbrush though I mainly hairy stick it on. The perfume can get a little bit too much at times but it's still a lot better then normal varnishes (the model's don't smell after a Day or so). As for the other product I haven't heard of it before so cannot comment. (Apart from saying try it on a test piece even sprue and see how it behaves) https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B008HFVO32/ref=ask_ql_qh_dp_hza
  5. I also wonder if he came back and read comments. My 2p's worth it's your model do it your way. if you want to dip it in sky blue poster paint and use it as a stamp ? Do so. It's your model it matters not what anyone else says or think you go ahead and stamp away. Aslong as you are happy with whichever you end up with it's all good.
  6. Hello Hobbycraft carry Tamiya paints if there's no lms (local model shop) near you maybe they could closer. or there's online retailers (no idea if HC is open with covid). as for washes HC do sell some as well but personally I prefer to make my own . There are a many videos etc online showing how to do so using artist oil paints thinners etc . Good luck happy hunting.
  7. I use a three prong attack. 1st I heat a small metal spatula till red hot ,I leave that on one side while I get the little rubber points into the holes then I use the slightly cooled spatula to smooth down each point.waiting a min while getting points in holes means it is warm enough to melt the points but not too warm to push through the whole track. 2nd I use Tamiya extra thin glue to melt the insides of the tracks together.(via capillary action) which is pressed together to aid cohesion with a sissor clamp . 3rdly I cut down the prongs on a 2/3 staples ( so they are only 1/2 thickness of track at joint) Holding in a pair of lock tweezers I gentle heat and gentle push into the joint in track so the staple goes just under flush with track inside.. I should say the tracks in question was on remote controlled Tamiya tanks which had to move freely and took a lot of punishment. I rarely had to fix a track joint back though quite often had to join split tracks.
  8. Personally I gloss over decals when they are fixed in place to seal in decals and then use a Matt varnish over that. I use pledge multisurface wax (formally Future) both under and over decals
  9. I have found that the exact colours used in uniforms changed often depending on which manufacturer made them even uniforms made the same week can differ slightly. I used to work after school in a fancy dress hire shop who also used to supply theatres etc with costumes if you looked down a row of say German ww2 infantry uniforms the colours would run from very dark blue to dark green . British uniforms not so much but you do get variations. Bleaching (sun etc) is a important factor as with worn uniforms . It is as said before a personal choice which way to go google is a great tool just search "ww2 (your choice of faction) in colour" and see what you would think looks right.
  10. Hi I have been trying out concrete textures and found your sand textures a inspiration . I have been trying out thistle (finishing plaster) as it has a fine grain/powder making scale building materials a better scaled look And it only cost under a fiver for a 15 kg bag. Here's my first attempt at concrete.
