  1. Can you control the locos vis bluetooth using railmaster or do you need to use the app. I like the wireless control but I ALSO LIKE THE RECORD OPTION ON RAILMASTER
  2. Hi Does anybody know if you can load the app onto an amazon Fire Tablet. It does not appear in the list of available amazon apps but I have read some android apps will run on it. Thanks Steve
  3. From what I can glean its sliding rail on the inside for curves
  4. Have ordered some flexi track and have been looking at every video I could find on how to lay. Every video seems to solder the joints but I wont risk that however I think i will solder 2 pieces together for the curves and bend from the centre outwards. I will start practicing my soldering skills and use droppers where possible
  5. Thankyou for your replies. I can see I can easily replace the long straight next to platform is the section on the other side of platform feasible to do in flexi track? also would you replace the oval ends in flexi as well? I know you can get templates to assist in forming. The sidings in the middle are non working so can use some of the track I already have there.
  6. Hi I am making a new tt120 layout that will be under the glass of a glass top table, I am constricted for size and the layout I want will consist of quite a lot of 3/4 length straights which will mean using a 1/2 and a 1/4 straight together. The track will be permanent so my question is Is it better to cut a full length straight down or use the 2 shorter lengths together. My soldering skills are woeful so soldering the joints is a non starter. I am looking for reliability and was thinking of using a conductive glue on the fishplates, some of the joints even though the track is new seem very loose and I searched the web to see if you can tighten but could not find a conclusive answer
  7. Its a railway that is going under a heavy glass dining table top, so is more of a feature than a layout for running trains, I was looking for reliability. its going to be powered by battery. and the overall size is 29.5" x 62" (track can go right to edge of these dimensions)
  8. Hi I would like to have to loops of track with a crossing using anyrail I have come up with this using a 8018 crossing and 8014 267mm rad 7.5 degree curves. Is there a better way and will a flying scotsman with pullman coaches work ok . I will move the crossing a little further away from the points.
  9. yes will add a fuse thanks again, just searching ebay for something to put the switch, controller and fuse in.
  10. Thankyou so much for your help, thats just what I was imagining but wasn't sure if it would work
  11. I have a glass top dining table and in process of building a box below to take a couple of loops of track. I will be running the flying scotsman bundle which consists of loco and 4 lit carriages. I would like to run this from a rechargeable battery pack sited under the table. with a separate knob to control speed or a simple on off switch with say speed set half speed any thoughts or suggestions would be welcome. I would like the train to run for a minimum of half an hour (there track would not have any inclines)
  12. I have been googling oo snow plough and the only option that may fit on the front of a loco looks like Bachmann 36-068 Class 37 Loco Snowplough, whilst I can find lots of photos of the part I cant find any more info ie how it fits. or photo of it fitted to anyting. I realize I will have to adapt somehow but if anyone has an image of it fitted that would be great.
  13. Hi I am building a high level single oval of track in a conservatory/orangery. One of my concerns as the track is not visible is the possible derailment by dead fly's and bees. Being a conservatory we get a lot fly's etc that get trapped by the glass lantern and although many do escape many get caught in spiders webs or just die naturally and whereas they would normally drop to the floor the ledge I have created for the track will I am afraid get littered by the bodies. I am installing a perspex fence to prevent a derailment and the train crashing to the floor but I would like to prevent derailment's caused by dead insects. My initial thoughts are some type of cow catcher. The train and loco I am proposing would have been something like a Flying Scotsman pulling orient express style coaches. This track is more a feature than a train layout If anybody has any ideas on what I could use they would be very welcome
  14. Hi This sounds ideal I have had a look at the PICaxe website and you would probably be able to answer my questions I see they do different starter packs, if I downloaded the software I assume I can then design what I am after and from that would I be able to tell which would be the most suitable starter pack. There are 2 software downloads PICAXE Editor 6PE6 FREE PICAXE Editor 6 is the recommended Windows software for programming, testing and simulating BASIC, Blockly and flowchart programs for PICAXE. and Blockly for PICAXEBlockly FREE Visual block and text programming for PICAXE on any computer platform. Is this where I would start ?
  15. Hi I am putting up a very basic oval of track at high level around a room, to give it a little more interest I would like it to automatically Go forward say 5 circuits pause go forward 2 circuits pause reverse 1 circuit pause go forward 3 circuits. etc. If possible the number of circuits would be random and the length of pause would be random and maybe either the speed (within limits) I do want this to be all in dc. The stopping points can be anywhere on the oval. I hope this is possible and if not what parts are Any advice would be welcome.
  16. Just to say thankyou for your help, searched bachmann for anything about a suitablr speaker with plug but nothing shows so emailed them but havnt had a reply. will run just on dcc for now. will try try diesil tts just to make sure it works. Do you think hornby may make a decoder for a EMU in the future? thanks again Steve
  17. Loco came today and alas there is no speaker on board however there is a space for where the speaker goes, this also appears to have to small sockets which I assume is to plug the speaker in. There appears plenty of space for a adaptor plus decoder. So my next questions are if there was a tts decoder for an emu would I leave the hornby speaker attached to the wires and fit speaker in space provide. I assume I would use the adaptor suggested by Colin B If I bought a 21 pin Loksound V4 sound decoder as Chrissaf describes, I believe these come with a sugar cube speaker, do these come with a plug or do you by a plug or are these again wired to the decoder. Lastly how do you fix the speakers in place? Thanks for your assistance Steve /media/tinymce_upload/44340d2bca9ec486f7faa4a396cbb07d.jpg

  19. Thankyou for your help and suggestions , I can find very little tech info but as they are a very good value I have just ordered one and will make my mind up when I have it. thanks again Steve
  20. Is it possible to add a tts decoder to a sound ready 31-379 Bachmann OO Gauge Class 416 2-EPB 2-Car EMU 5771 BR (SR) Green, this has a 21 pin socket I belive you can get a 21 to 9 pin adaptor and understand there may be a physical sixe problem with the added height and I may loose 1 of the functions but there seems a way round this, What I am not sure about is the speaker. the emu is sound ready which I assume means there is already a speaker on board, the tts decoders look like they have speakers wired to them. So my question is can I use the tts decoder and if so what do I do with the speaker. Thanks
  21. Hi Got a reply at 2.30am saying possible that firmware update may affect 3rd party equipment and offered in general the same solution as you suggested previously ie use the feedback module exclusively for the reverse loop and dont use the other outputs (fortunately my new layout uses a lot less feedbacks and I have the capacity over to do this) Thanks again Top marks as always for Hornby forum and now digikeijs support
  22. Thanks, I have emailed them to see if something has changed
  23. Thanks for the reply, tried swapping the wires but to no avail. Didnt do as your previous posts suggested as it worked ok, the only difference Im thinking was I reloaded the programme for the DR5000 Controller and at the same time installed the update, I cant find any settings and come to that dont remember having to adjust any settings but am wondering if the update may have changed something (could that be a possibility) Steve
