  1. With the new Amtrak Avelia Liberty planning to enter service next year, I was thrilled to see Hornby offer a HO scale version, let alone a trainset, until i saw the pictures (here: https://us.hornby.com/products/acela-electric-train-set-hr1000 ), in which my excitement slowly died off. Hornby's Avelia Liberty seems more "toyish" then per se, an actual model. With a certain detail, the location of the pantograph being straight up inaccurate. Now im not the most prototypical modeler and i do intend to still purchase it once it becomes available state side. But im afraid that this model/trainset will not sell well in the US market, especially when you are going up against some of the most renowned model train manufacturers in the USA (Bachmann, Athearn, Atlas etc). Bachmann being the main proprietor of HO scale Amtrak equipment, having released the older/soon to be retired Acela in a trainset. Which is more accurate and prototypical then Hornbys new Avelia trainset. I truly wonder if Hornby understands what the North American/USA market wants when it comes to model trains.
  2. Does Hornby (or Rivarossi) make Schnabel Cars? Either in OO or HO?
  3. Ok heres a challenge Mr. Airfix... a 1:350 HMS Exeter, hero of the Battle of the River Plate, now i know a lot of the 1:600 scale modelers will come after me with a broom labeled "1:600 is the true ship scale" ready to wack me for even suggesting such an absurd idea, but hear me out. Currently im building a small flotilla of warships from ww2. I already have 2 USN cruisers in 1:350 (USS Indianapolis and USS San Fransico, plus the Mighty Mo as us yanks call her ;) and a Essex class carrier all in 1:350) The My british fleet right now is bone dry with only the KGV (1:350) and a couple of Airfix's old 1:400 scale 4 stack destroyers which i convince myself are actually 1:350 ones:) thus a 1:350 scale HMS Exeter would be a perfect fit. As the "winner" (in a sense) of the duel between her and the infamous Graf Spee, Exeter should sell well because of this achievement. Im interested in hearing everyone elses opininon, feel free to chime in!
  4. I recently vacationed up in Canada and while in Montreal, i naturally visited a hobby shop (place is called Udisco ltd. huge place go check it out ;) because thats something everyone does while vacationing...right? Anyhow while there i managed to pick up the following: Airfix 1:350 Type 45 destroyer, Airfix 1:400 HMS Montgomery, and Airfix 1:400 HNoMS St. Albans. (Montgomery and St. Albans are reboxed Mirage kits apparently) Im looking forward to building these gems!
  5. Fingers crossed...touch wood and the lucky rabbits foot....... Perhaps someday...... Someday is so far away though *sobs*
  6. When i saw "Airfix Queen Elizabeth", my heart raced for a minute thinking that you were referring to the new Royal Navy Aircraft Carrier H.M.S Queen Elizabeth and i thought Airfix pulled a fast one on us.
