  1. Thanks for the responses everyone. I have attempted to add more weight to the rear end of the tractor unit but with very little success. I’m probably going to retire it to the display case and put the decoder to better use. Ah well, it was a good idea - I don’t think.
  2. I have been updating a couple of old HST Class 43 locos. One is a Lima and the other a Hornby. Using CD motor kits from a certain gent in Scotland and Zimo decoders all has gone well with the updates apart from the traction tyres on the Hornby loco. The tyres were loose on the wheels so I purchased new ones from Peters spares. After fitting them the loco runs quite well but appears to suffer from wheel spin. The tyres are really tight on the wheels but It’s almost as though there’s not enough weight in the loco to drive it along. I’m wondering if anyone else has had this issue on the 43.
  3. Such sad news about Chris passing away. He helped me on several occasions. My deepest condolences to his family. R.I.P Chris
  4. Hi Chris, I'm using the 'elink' and Railmaster as usual. First time I've fitted a Zimo decoder - usually use TTS ones. Mike
  5. Hi Folks, Got a Zimo MX648R sound decoder and installed it into a Hornby 8F. It was working fine on the standard '003' ID setting until I tried changing the ID to a new ID of 035. It changed the ID but now I have a loco that will hardly move ? I've tried changing the CV settings for 2-6 but whatever I input doesn't seem to have any effect on the decoder and the way it runs the motor. Don't know how to get the original settings back on the Zimo so it works again. All I did was change the ID of the loco ! But I've messed about now and don't know where to get the original settings. Any advice would be appreciated. Mike
  6. Thanks for the info Chris. Your explanation makes it clear that it's probably time for me to think long and hard about an alternate DCC control system. I can appreciate now why it takes so long to get a response from the support system. Hopefully I can get it working again for the time being as I've got a whole setup based on it. Thanks Chris.
  7. I've just reformatted my old Dell laptop with Windows 7 and will only run Railmaster on there - if I ever get it running again. Proper annoyed with the support system for Railmaster.
  8. Day three now and no response from Railmaster support Why on earth is it so disconnected from the Hornby website ? Surely it should have a direct link from this website to the Railmaster support. Keep waiting then.
  9. Two working days gone and still no response from Rail-Master support. Not good!
  10. A-C, Forgot to mention that I've already checked my IP is not on any blacklists. Mike
  11. Hi Augustus Caesar, As I think I said in a previous post, I did actually manage to send a help request from 'within' Railmaster. I filled in all the required details - Activation code, Pro activation, Remote device code, Full name and address etc.... I've heard nothing back apart from the automated response email. I did another test by attempting to 'ping' the Railmaster server and was surprized that I could not get a response until I turned on the VPN? Once VPN was on the response time was really quick - see attached screen shot Really strange?
  12. Hi Augustus Caesar, Thank you for your input and advice regarding my issues. I will continue my efforts to get it running again. A couple of thing I need to clarify though. My IP address is a static as I have several computers on a Domain (this computer is not attached to the domain) and run several FTP servers on various machines. I've removed and re-installed Railmaster several times in the past without any issues but this last time it was forced on me by a new brand new hard drive failure only days after I re-installed Railmaster. It was running fine through Kaspersky A/V and Firewall. I just find it very strange that I tried downloading the setup files through Chrome, Edge and Firefox without success. Eventually, by using the VPN I did manage the download but by then I had already got the download from Chris. Have you got any ideas regarding the ip.bat & iptest.bat files that the installer creates and then deletes? Once again thanks for the input and I'll keep you posted on the continuing saga. Best regards Mike
  13. Whilst trying to figure out how to fix the communication issue I had another look at the settings in Kaspersky Internet Security 'Application network rules'. I can see 2 objects in there 'ip.bat' & 'iptest.bat' but when trying to find them in their supposed locations of 'C:Program Files (x86)Railmaster' they do not exist ? I'm wondering how Kaspersky has dreamt up these file names ? Is it maybe something that the RM installer created and then deleted ? Really weird. I'll wait now until Monday as I don't expect anyone works over the weekend. See if I can some response regarding my IP address being blocked. Thanks for all the input chaps.
  14. Thanks Chris, I sent them an email or two yesterday and have heard nothing back. Found a setting within the new Google Chrome that has a bearing on what stops the rm_setup down loading. Settings - Privacy and Security - site settings - additional content settings - insecure content - put the Hornby download page into there as allowed and it will download the software.
  15. Only me again, found something interesting regarding the downloading of Railmaster software. I can assume my IP address is blocked as when I use a VPN connection, I can download the rm_set with no issues. Still can't get a message through to HRMS regarding the reset of my codes. How long does it usually take to get a reply.
