  1. I think it may be worth mentioning that this and more can be achieved by using programs in Railmaster. It assumes you have this of course. May be worth investigating also.
  2. You can buy both again from Tesco this year with a £4 discount when you take them to the till together. Effectively the magazine for 99p. Just bought mine they had quite a few left at my store.
  3. Really disappointed that you can't buy the postal van for the Rocket individually. It will just create another bidding war on auction sites because of the limited number available and previous Rocket release purchases made ensuring true Hornby customers feel they have lost out again.
  4. I have never used auction sites, however, my wife uses Facebook Marketplace. I completely echo RAF96’s comments. A couple of years ago her mother died and we had to sell the house and contents. We thought about just getting someone in to take everything away, or giving to charity, or dumping a lot of it. A friend mentioned, “Why not sell items on eBay, you have plenty of time before any house sale goes through.” We though it was too much hassle to list everything and go through all this at the same time as dealing with the estate. Another mentioned Facebook Marketplace. They said “No fees, take a picture and instantly post and see who comes - you’ll be surprised.” People actually turned up to buy £2 plant pots and some from a considerable distance away. By the time we sold the house she had practically sold everything from expensive furniture to cheap tat. She realised several thousand pounds for the estate. Some items sold immediately, some were on for a few months. She regularly relisted (you just press a button) continually dropping the price of unsold items. She did respond to offers, particularly people wanting to buy more than one item, and she offered a discount were appropriate. After that experience she now sells all our stuff that we don’t want. Some people might not like the idea of people coming to the house and I can understand this as it is a personal choice. We always said to people that if it was not what they wanted or they were in any way unhappy just bring it back and we will give you your money back. Not a single person has done this so far. In fact, many people have thanked her for the items. Maybe we are selling cheap but it is the price she wanted and she is happy. It really isn’t that difficult. She now agrees to post items as long as the people pay by Paypal Friend upfront. We have even dropped of stuff locally while we have been out shopping. We said we would deliver if was not really out of our way. Some even give us petrol money. We may have been very lucky but up to now have not had a bad experience and we are literally several thousand pounds to the good for something we never considered doing. I honestly don’t know how good this would be for selling model items but would suggest to anyone to give it a go. It really is simple and costs absolutely nothing. You may even sell all the stuff that has been lying around for ages and get yourself the new “Rocket” that has just been announced!
  5. It will be interesting to see if you get any more solutions. However, to make progress you will have to pick one. Let us know which you ultimately decide as judging by the knowledgable people on hear It looks like you are going to struggle. Furthermore, constantly reprising Hornby's mistake doesn't take you forward. If you feel so strongly request your money back. If you wish to try something else Peco make 2 short straights also, 41mm and 79mm which are different to Hornby's 38mm, maybe have a play with them to see if you can solve the puzzle.
  6. I think a manufacturer not knowing or promoting its own products properly is sad. Flexitrack is an acceptable way forward for just about anybody, however, if you are determined to only use a set track solution here is a method. /media/tinymce_upload/7fc1b21cbe2aeae5f0f681d9720fa7da.JPG
  7. I have R3941 and the TTS sound kit R8113 fits in the tender. This is confirmed with a diagram on the leaflet included in the box. They are presently in stock at Hornby.
  8. There are paint companies that will make up and sell you paint to exactly match a sample that you give them including a physical item such as a body shell if this is what you are trying to do.
  9. That interesting. Doesn't look like Hornby (Humbrol) make that colour to buy. Closest I could see is Insignia yellow. So you did the right thing getting a colour match. It's probably best anyway when you are trying to match something else rather than starting with a blank canvas when you can get something that's close enough. Happy painting.
  10. Your welcome. Don't forget to show us a picture when it's done.
  11. So can I take it that if we take a back up of the file and keep it safe somewhere, then we can avoid all that faffing around should we experience a malfunction or change computer?
  12. Great stuff. Looks like you got there with a little help from the forum. And yes you are that good. You never know you can do anything until you give it a try.
  13. Maybe it would be possible to mask off a straight edge using a piece of plastic and something like Humbrol Maskol. Painting the Maskol up to it each side. Then when dry just brush paint in between. Or perhaps use modellers precision masking tape. Just make sure your original paint is completelay dry and hard first If you try this solution.
  14. One way of doing multiple repeated facades is to make a mould. If you buy the really cheap sealant (the cheaper the better) you can fill a pre prepared box such as 5 pieces of spare plastic glued together. Spray the original item with cheap furniture polish then press it in face down. (Brick sheet or whatever.) Wait for it to set. Remove the item. You now have a reusable flexible mould. Mix some resin, pour in mould. It sets very quickly, prise out. Repeat. Then paint etc. This can work out very cheap. I have made individual parts even wheels for model trucks. As long as you have an original your good to go. Believe me you will be surprised at the detail it captures. No doubt there will be the ubiquitous videos on the net if you search.
