Can someone please explain to a non electrical/electronics wizard (me) why it is not possible to cut the plug off the Hornby controller to make the connection. Alternatively I would be happy to see a photograph of the proposed connecter mentioned here.

Yes thank you. I found the forum after I read the leaflets enclosed with the decoder. There is not a strong enough warning there IMHO. I will, in future start a separate thread. Thank you for your patience and understanding. Season's greetings.

OK so it looks like I blew it. (Literally) I have an HM2000 power supply! Is there anything to salvage? (Apart from the speaker).

Hi I wasn't doing autocalibration, but I too get this message about Motor Overcurrent. My Bachmann Class 37 is on a DC track. The profile and everything loaded and I got sounds. However the loco didn't move. When I tried to reload the profile, after completion, I got the overcurrent message and the App has lost connection to the decoder (Bluetooth). Nothing I do seems to get it back. Is that the end of the decoder. Sorry if this is all a newbie question. Steven

So which order to you install the items? I used the "Vista" patch to change the setup files. Failed to run. Then I tried using the HVR2Patch6 files but I get an error " Failed to find 16-bit or 32-bit adapter mode" Seems like something to do with the graphics card. Steven
