  2. Hello Fazersteve,I purchased a boxed APT about 25 years ago,complete with pantograph(which are sometimes missing). Anyway,I had the opportunity to purchase another(unboxed) APT a couple of months ago and this one has it's pantograph missing and one of the articulated bodies were missing. I managed to find a spare bogie and fitted it,but alas,I don't have a spare pantograph for it.One will turn up one day. Anyway,when I went to test it,it too made loud screeching noises and was very hesitant in running. I posted the problem on here and Sarahagain gave me some advice on how to remove the power bogie.Once this was removed,a tiny drop of oil was placed on all of the drive gears and on both ends of the motor shaft. The power bogie was then clipped back into the body,the complete 5 car unit was then made up,I turned the power on,slow,to start with and after about 10 seconds the screeching stopped. I didn't need to strip the motor down,just very light lubrication was needed,in this case.

  5. Am I correct in saying that since it's introduction in the early 1970s,system 6 track,as it was then referred to as,indeed had code 100 rail.
  6. Hello Rob12345. Christmas greetings from Somerset. When you say series 4,you mean Super 4,to give it it's correct title. My own layout consists of a large oval of modern Hornby system 6 track,DCC controlled. Inside that oval is a large oval of modern system 6 track which is DC controlled.. And inside that oval is a large oval of Super 4 track and on this oval I run my triang loco s and rolling stock,however,some of ,but not all of my triang stock will run on the more modern Hornb y track quite happily. This mainly applies,in my experience,to triang locos,etc,manufactured from the mid 1960s. Hope this is of help to you.Also,the best places to pick up good Super 4 track,in my experience,is at toy fairs,car boots and a certain auction site. Ref the R751 diesel loco,it sounds like it needs a good service,to me. I have several of the Triang R751 diesel loco s and the ones I have run happily on Hornby track,of recent manufacture.

Good afternoon everyone,why don't you do what I have done,to be able to run my 1950s loco s with the deep flanges on the wheels,why don't you incorporate an oval of "Super 4" track? ,the geometry of it is the same as modern Hornby setrack and there's still lots of Super 4 track about,either in the well known auction site or at toyfairs. It's not expensive either,I purchased 5 boxed Super 4 points,in as new condition,from a train show at the weekend,for £2:50p each! And you can join an oval of Super 4 track to an oval of modern Hornb y track using a " Converter track",again these are readily available.

  9. It's a miracle that any actually survived,considering that so few were made over such a short time period.

Hi everyone,the two loco s which are just empty shells,(one is good,but the other one which was found buried in a garden,with a tree growing through it is in a very poor condition),are being mechanically restored by a specialist in this field!. One of the loco s will be powered by a new motor on each bogie and the other one will be powered by one motor on one bogie only. The body shells require attention also,the one that was found buried in a garden more so! It all takes time and money,but hopefully they will be back by the end of the year. Then it will be down to me to repaint them,as they were when they first came of the production line. They are due to be collected at the end of this month and then the mechanical and electrical restoration can commence by the specialist. These will be powered by on board batteries. We managed to get a third loco,which is in running order,which requires little or no restoration and this is being delivered in a couple of weeks. This loco picks up its 50v DC from the track. With this comes 10 x 6 foot original track panels and the original transformer,complete with original buffer stop!. Tomorrow I'm exhibiting a Big Big Train display at the Alresford vintage train exhibition,but,next yesr,if the organiser gives the go ahead,I may display some Tri ang mini C narrow gauge railways items.
  11. Hi,I believe the 0 4 0 tank loco got to the prototype stage,but never went into actual production. The loco s can either pick up from the track at ,I believe,50v,dc,or from on board batteries. we have two Pullman coaches,in need of slight restoration,complete with bogies, and what is known as a "toast rack" coach,which is an open coach with seats in it which needs a lot of restoration,complete with its bogies, we also have two locos,which are just empty shells which come complete with there bogies,but are in need of total restoration. Indeed,one of the loco s was found buried,in a garden,with a tree growing through it!,it's now at home here,in the dry,waiting it's turn in the restoration queue. In the pipeline,is the arrival of another loco,this time a working example,which picks up its power from the track and is coming with its transformer,ten lengths of original track and an original buffer stop.
  12. The 0 4 O tank loco,was,I think to be based on the Tri ang nellie/polly/Connie of that period.
