  1. Good evening everyone,I purchased two Hornby ventilated vans, with tts sound.I would highly recommend these wagons, great sounds and bought for a really good price, well done Hornby.
  2. Good evening everybody, the weekend is fast approaching, time to do some more work on the layout me thinks.
  3. Hi,thanks for the reply, next time im in my local town in Somerset,I'll check the nearest toy shop and see if they have any.
  4. Hi Tony, thanks for your suggestion,I'll certainly give it some thought.I hope, eventually,to have enough catenary to do both ovals of the super 4 track, the only problem being keeping the track clean, using a track rubber, without breaking the masts. We were at a local toyfair last weekend and we picked up some absolute bargains,9 boxed triang/hornby points controlled colour light signal sets, amongst other things. They are still in their boxes ,but I may incorporate some of these into the layout . I have,on pre order, from the Hornby on line shop,2 xT TS sound wagons, they look very good and will add another dimension to the lauout.
  5. Hello Tony 57,I haven't,as yet, isolated the DCC oval from the DC oval,it's on my to do list.I'm just being very careful not to change the points as it will cause untold damage,I should think,so I keep the ovals running separately,I need to get some insulated fishplates. Ref the catenary,I've been collecting Tri ang catenary, purchased from toyfairs, etc, and I think I should have enough to complete one of the ovals of the super 4 track. If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask, thanks.
  6. The view you see here is only one quarter of the layout, there's still lots to do on it.I may add some catenary in the future to the super 4 section of the layout.
  7. Hi Sarah,we've tried it in the past and it does work,I bought a supply of caps years ago,for the fog signal and the battle space exploding wagon I have, can you still buy caps?
  8. The layout measures 8 feet by 6 feet, the outer oval is system 6 nickel silver track,DCC. The next oval is system 6 nickel silver.DC. The next two ovals are super 4 And of course minic motorways in the middle. The baseboard is temporarily covered in rolls of green poster paper and none of the track is pinned down,it doesn't need to be as the joints hold firm with the passing of the trains. There's still plenty to do,the mini c motorways need to be wired up,the turntable needs wiring up,as do the station platform lampposts and the point operated triang colour light signals, when I get around to installing them,I have 8 of them,in there original boxes.I'm basically building this layout as a reminder of my younger years, when every Christmas and birthday I would receive something in a red and yellow box, namely triang railways, triang hornby or latterly hornby railways. The system 6 oval is joined to the super 4 oval by means of a converter track.

  16. We have put a photo of it on the Hornby face book section on the visitor section.
  17. Good afternoon everyone,I've just purchased a job lot of boxed tri ang and amongst it was a boxed R52 jinty, made in Richmond, with British Railways in writing on the tank sides, all steps are present, none broken of,all lettering present.(This,I believe, was one of only a few hundred ever made with British Railways written on the tank sides, they were, apparently, using up surplus transfers which had been used on the N2 tank loco.)When these transfers were used up,they then went on to using the Lion and wheel transfers.I believe it was made in 1952,perhaps Margate Richmond can throw some light on this particular loco,it's rarity, value etc. This is now my prize possession amongst my tri ang collection.
  18. Good evening,I've just looked in the spares section on the hornby website.I noticed there's a variety of traction tyres there, may be some of the larger tyres would fit?,worth a try.
  19. If father Christmas delivers some of these on the 25th of december, then I'm sure there will be some delighted faces when they are unwrapped.I've been a happy customer of Hornby(or triang railways),as it was known then, since the early 1960s and have been a loyal customer ever since and anything that Hornby does to try and generate income should be welcomed. This is an amazing hobby,I even visited the Hornby factory in Margate on three different occasions on factory tours during the 1980s when production was carried out there and once you're into model railways, you tend to stay with it for life.I highly recommend this hobby and I wish all at Hornb y every success in this venture.
