  1. Thanks guys, will check these suggestions tomorrow. The loco definitely has the decider installed, I just double checked I had fitted it correctly. Also, I’m not using power clips as the controller is connected directly to the main bus wire.
  2. Ok so its firmware 1.5, running the 1 amp transformer. If I turn the Select on without a loco on the track it doesn’t seem to show an OL fault. Excuse my ignorance, but what does the zero loco function do?
  3. Hi All So I've just finished wiring a bus wire to my 6x4 layout and a brand new Hornby Select controller. There seems to be some issues... Once the controller is hooked up and I place the loco on the rails it immediately starts trying to run with no application of the power via the rotary control. This then leads to an OL error. I reset the controller and still have the same issue. Following this with the loco on the track it will run ok, until it reaches a certain turnout where it always derails and then the Select displays OL again. Can anyone offer any suggestions please?
  4. Is it possible to wire up 2 of these eze switch boxes using a single cdu and power supply? Or would they need to be setup independently?

    DCC Bus Wire

Thanks all. Another novice question- when running a T Bus similar to the diagram above by Chrissaf what is the best way to connect the controller wires to the bus wires (without soldering)?

    DCC Bus Wire

Thanks everyone. As the layout has 2 main ovals and some smaller off shoots, what is the best way to wire the bus? Do I individual buses on each of the main ovals and them have the smaller areas feed into those? Also, should the bus be a continuous loop?

    DCC Bus Wire

Hi All I’m in the process of starting a layout using the Hornby track extension packs under guidance from the very helpful document by Chrissaf. I’m going to use DCC, my question is will a bus wire be necessary for this (layout is the standard track extension packs A to F setup)? Thanks in advance.
  8. Thanks everyone, will give it a go and see what happens.
  9. Hi All Is there a relatively easy way to replace track sections (actually points) on an existing layout without damaging things? I think it’s easy enough to remove a section using a dremel cut off wheel, however how do you install a new piece with fishplates in the way? Thanks in advance.

Thank you Chrissaf, this helps greatly

    Power

Thanks everyone. Your guide is very useful Chrisaaf. Regarding the wiring, you suggest the use of a link wire (figure 10 in the guide). Is it a better option to solder the link wire to the track in this location? Also, am I correct In saying the track layout is the same for all extension packs regardless of whether DC or DCC is used? I have used insulated fish plates in the location shown in figure 16 (as the plan was originally to go DC with 2 controllers) will this effect anything if I decide to go DCC?
  12. Hi, I'm a complete newbie and just starting out with a DC layout for my son. I have all the Hornby track extensions A through F laid and just have some questions about power. Everything runs ok but the train does get a bit slow/staggers in a couple of areas. I'm using a basic R8250 controller. Is it likely the controller is not powerful enough for this layout? I've also read about bus wires, Is it likely that i will need these?
