  1. I know it's a while since the last comment but !

My H class part of the R3512 push pull set does not need anything prising off just the mem Socket removing before accessing the front screw. Its been fine good little runner till it just stopped Boxing Day .

Hope it stops someone prising at things that do not need it.

  2. For me it's Rocket glue , tried UHU when I ran out , glue all over the place doesn't set quick enough.

On the temperature it will be no problem all mine are fine after a hot Cyprus summer 3 months of high 30s to nights of high 20s.

  3. Hi all

Just a quick point , the Bournmouth > York would have Eastern region marron stock one day and southern green stock the next, if you was lucky pulled by Lion in white. Not sure why the GWR would provide stock. Train reversed at Sheffield Victoria onward to York was a Director turn then a B1 or anything hanging around Darnal.

  4. The Metcalfe PO241 stone viaduct is nearing completion and looking impressive, I like to do these card kits very relaxing.

Back in November I bought a Merchant navy R2169 with just one piece lose , Ha more like one piece fixed.

So does it run No , short circuits everything , removed the tender and loco makes a noise but no movement , removed the body, the gears were locked solid with old grease and half a Pint of oil , what a mess.

Cleaned and dried the gears tightened every thing up , i now have a good strong runner after sorting the metal strip connections to the tender.

Now to smarten up the body work .

  5. Set of clack valves from Markits and Smoke deflectors , loco steps and tender steps from RT models to improve my very cheap Merchant Navy Clan Line.

Had notification from Hattons that Dave aka Lord Rodney is on its way. Just need to star building the layout after the house move, think aim now released from DiY duties for now.

next decision is which Terrier . First, can see more than one being required.

  6. Addition to the coaching stock.

    2 x R4842 composite coach,

    1 x R4840 4 compartment 2nd brake

    1 x R4841 4 compartment 2nd brake.

Makes a nice train with the Maunsell restaurant coach inserted.

So I now have a six car Devon belle, six coach Bachman MK1 set, Push and pull set , a Mk 1 brake and a GUV .

All green except the Pullmans, time for some colour ,blood and custard next , may be a marrow brake for parcels.

  7. Rebuilt clan line , bargin from a well know auction site?

    so far -

cleaned out the gear box of thick gunk,

dryed out the running gear covered in oil

refixed the motor which was lose

remixed the front screw to hold the body on .

    loco now runs.

    Engine/tender connections shorting

still required, smoke deflectors (came with a Britannia deflector) sifting valves, front steps, tender steps. Waiting for RT to return from tree winter break.

It is a good strong runner, but has a tendency to derail on the straight when aim not watching.

  8. 3 Devon belle Pullman cars in excellent condition, makes up a six car train looks great just fits in the station.

1 Blue box N class looks good.

and my less than £60 Merchant Navy has arrived via both daughter houses and it spending Christmas and new year in Konia post office.

is it a good by, time will tell it has the following faults

front fastening broke ,over tightened, fixed with superglue

wonr move striped the engine down, let's say it won't need oiling for a long long time ,I could probably oil all my locos with the oil in the loco . So dryed it and cleaned all the thick sticky no very sticky grease out tested okay without the tender. The screws fixing the motor were tightened to hold the motor in place as it was lose. Not supprised with amount of oil around the motor and gear box.

.With the tender connected  nothing the connections seem to be shorting . The tender wheels have alsobeen over oiled so this was striped and cleaned but it's not free running ,this needs looking onto.

lastly the smoke deflectors are both off, well the left side is off and the right side is off a Britania loco it's definitely not a merchant navy deflector so new deflectors will be ordered from RT models .

It will be a good engine once the tender and smoke deflectors are fixed

So still some work to do ,,N to run in Clan Line to finish off and the lounge to decorate . Happy new year!

  9. Hi Caiptean

    Thanks for the advice.

Yes checked the above , everything appears okay, tested the track with various locks all performed perfectly. The back to back seems correct same as Mallard and Clanline .

The crossovers and points are to be relayed at the end of October ,best to park Wadebridge for now, don't want to crash test against the tiles.

  10. I've been avoiding purchusing one, but have had to buy one to give the extra length required to store a six coach train.

A curved point! Everything you read says don't use them ,not a problem everything takes it with ease, except the air smooth West Country . But this derails on the straight on points on crossings, so not too worried.

The curved point is on the entrance to the carnage sidings so is not taken at speed.

still learning and having fun in the sun,
