  1. Morning, Every day is a school day at the moment, lol. I've been informed that the Air runs on pulse width modulation and I will need a diode and capacitor in the circuit. These items will produce a steady DC current to operate the flashing LED’s. At least I know I wasn't going mad now. So off to the supplier again to source some more bits. Might be an idea to buy a new soldering iron as well! The brick I'm currently using isn't great for this kind of work. Thanks for your feedback. Ron
  2. Hi Andy,Yes you may well have done :) I will try your suggestion later. The Air isn't AC is it? My supplier is saying the flashing LED’s will not work on AC. Ron
  3. Hi, I'm not sure what happened on this yesterday, but half my response was missing. So I got both tracks set up and can confirm that both can be run at the same time, regardless of which colour controller you use. If using the App, both tracks will connect to two different tablets at the same time however neither one will work correctly. Even tried two different apps on two tablets, but still didn't work. If you use one app and one track for racing the other will still operate with no problem.(both bases are around 50cm from each other) So in summary me and the boy can both do our own thing on either track with no issues. No need for an old sport base with wired controllers. He races pace cars on the Pro and I service and test cars on the Air. Happy days, just going to crack on with buildings and figures now. Many thanks Ron + Sprog
  4. Hi, I recently purchased a second hand Scaalextric F1 Merc safety car online. When it arrived it became apparent that it wasn't a standard car. On looking inside it was full of all sorts of black magic! I made contact with the supplier who informed me it needed to be on a specific set up (he did offer to refund me) However I liked the car and decided to take the novice approach of stripping it out and making it a basic car with roof lights.(how heard could it be!) So I removed all the extra black magic parts including motor, and put it together again. Unfortunately l blew the roof lights whilst trying to establish what the 5 or 6 wires did. I installed a set of micro flashing Leds with resistor soldered on for good measure Into the roof. I tested the car and lights on a sport power base with track, and all worked well. I put the car on my Arc Air circuit and it ran ok but no roof lights? It still runs ok on the sport test track section, what have I done wrong please? I swapped the wires over on the motor and tried again but still no roof lights on the Air? I look forward to your response/ assistance. Ron
  5. Hi Andy P That link is great, just what I've been looking for. I had found lots of railway buildings, but they didn't really work for my Scalextric set up. "carrera4fun.de there is a link on the right called Gebäude & Deko" Many thanks Ron
  6. Hi Gorp & Andy Thanks so much for your input and efforts on this. I did manage to change the dip switches on the bases. Pro remained on setting 1 and Air to setting two. (Note to self read the manual!)This did in fact allow both sets of cars to run ok round both tracks. I used Red/Green on analogue(Air) and Blue/ Yellow on Pro, I don't know if that helped?(I should have tried both on Red/Green) Ive still not tried to run the App at the same time. Like most big kids I'm keen to get the track finished, so I stripped out the track ready to pin boards and paint etc. (Today's job!) Once ive got that lot all sorted out, I will clean an re lay the two tracks. I will then have a go with the app, but by the sounds of your test Gorp, it's not looking great. I do have an older sport power base and two hard wired controllers if need be. Question, can I attach that base to the same track as the Air and just power up which ever unit I'm using? (Both power bases on track next to each other, with power to one at a time only) I will try and source a lap counter. this would obviously be more convenient than having to keep stripping out the two different pieces of power base track(space is tight with the two circuits on top of each other) I will update you in due course. Have a good weekend, and keep safe. Ron
  7. Good afternoon. Thank you for taking the time to respond. I've not tried the app on these two set ups yet.(was trying a layout before I finally pin the boards to the framework) Sorry I guess I didn't make myself clear. I've set up the two separate tracks. But when both power bases are switched on (close proximity/ but different tracks) the controllers or bases clearly clashed. Both sets of cars became very jittery , it seemed a frequency clash was taking place on the controllers. So I tried to use different colours on the controllers, like the old crystals on the RC cars. (But that didn't work) I wasn't aware of the switch on the bottom of the Arc pro(maybe I should read the manual?), I will have a look and try that Frequency change suggestion. I would not have tried two tablets running at the same time to operate both the Pro and Arc(I assumed that would have been a headache).to be honest I can't keep the older motors on the track long enough to actually race 🤔 I'm happy to fly the old cars round whilst little man races against his pace cars etc. Although I may invest in a manual lap counter(good call) I will keep the digital cars away from the Analouge set up, I don't want to blow the chips(thanks) that could be an expensive bad habit. I will scurry up to my safe place later and try your suggestion. Worse case I guess I can use a hard wired power base/controllers for the older stock and track two. I'm grateful that I've got this little project on the go to shut out the real world for a few hours a day. Many thanks
  8. Good Evening Gents(and ladies) I've not been on here for a while. Like most of us, I've got a bit of time on my hands and I've been able to crack on with the various jobs around the house. So I've avoided all the grown up ones and cracked on in the loft. Ive done the lad a Hornby set and I've now moved onto the better project. The race track! I've set up an outer digital track and an inner analogue track. But when I tried to test run the pair it became very apparent the Air and Pro don't share very well. The don't seem to work properly when the other one is switched on. I tried using the later colours on the Pro, rather than same red and green. This didn't seem to work. My question to you very wise individuals, is it possible to get round this so I can run the old motors while my lad runs the new digital ones? Both tracks running at the same time. I seem to recal the Pro isn't very keen on running the analogue cars, and they don't much enjoy the experience either. So I would like to keep the two track layouts separate If possible. I can't afford to chip all my old cars right now! Many thanks Ron
  9. Evening Gents, Thank you for your response, that’s great. I’ve ordered the new track so will have a go when it arrives. My little man will like the lights on the pit game, so will still run with it. I’m not sure I will be able to stop him from cheating on the pit stops on the main track though.... lol. I struggled to get the PRO to run Analogue last time, but will try again. Many Thanks, Ron
  10. Also can I set up a track with both the PRO and the AIR connected at the same time, but only switch on the one I want to use? I had trouble getting the PRO to run analogue previously. I don’t want to try it without the go ahead......
  11. Evening all, Silly question time again. I have an Air and a Pro, I had some issues initially with my Pro,But you guys did educate me(well tried to) but I had brought the AIR by then, So the PRO went back in its box. Ive been using the AIR and it’s great, however I’ve decided that I better use the PRO as it’s just sitting in a box doing nowt. I’m going to get a straight section lane changer and a pit lane and will give the digital another go.(sorry I don’t know the technical part names/numbers) My questions are: how does the PRO know you are in the pit lane, when the app calls you in? Could I just stop anywhere on the track in any lane hold the button and it count as a pit stop? Can you stop at the power base and hold the button down, similar to AIR? Instead of pitting regardless of having a pit lane installed? Obviously I don’t want lane 1 and 2 to be used for pits if multiple cars are running. Do I need to remove the cross over bends I’ve currently got on the Analogue set up?(I seem to recal reading that on here somewhere) Does it matter how many lane change sections you use on a circuit? if I get the pit challenge counter to add as well will this effect the app in any way and will it also run at the same time as an app race? Gents if you could clear this up for me I would be very grateful, I have done a bit of searching on the internet, but didn’t get the answers I was looking for. Many thanks, Ron
  12. Thanks woodcote very long story, upgraded iPad to latest iOS software, also tried another app. I did manage to get up and running. however still could not get the analog cars to run. Went out and brought ARC Air as well. Have to say that works really well. Even managed to get the boys xperia going, but it drops off from time to time.Samsung phone wouldn’t work? still having a few issues, but generally happy with the units, a great new concept to slot car racing. I am now able to use your app on both units. I think that a better set of instructions would help In the future. I would like some advice on tweaking the app. For example when in race mode with incidents set,on a large track set up, one lane slows down to pretty much stop. I cannot work out how to give that lane more power? I’ve tried to calibrate each racer and car, but it doesn’t work. had to remove incidents on this race set up. Thank you in advance, and thanks for a swift response. Ron
