  1. Hi everybody I'm wondering what "star* wiring involves and are there any diagrams, I hope to build a baseboard soon, thanks for any info I'm not electrically proficient but hope to pick up some tips.
  2. Thank you for replies I will check suggestions. 👍
  3. Hello TVR the R number of power and dummy cars is 070-060 are there any info sheets that give individual part numbers for pin crimps, female spades, the clear light bezel etc, if I knew the numbers I could check out Peter's spares or that other well known site, sorry for delay in answering I was a bit lost with new format of forum
  4. Hi all, a silly question a few years ago I removed my lights on my HST power car and dummy with the intention to up grade unfortunately my drawings wires ECT have disappeared I need to know how to get power from motor bogie to lights, the dummy car isn't a problem, is it a case of piggy backing from the brush connection on motor, thanks for any replies.
  5. There were various prices plus track packs and buildings (£40 up to £240 for flying scotsman)
  6. I'm watching Hornby trains for sale on a shopping channel there is the Beatles eurostar, the flying scotsman, and Hornby traveller is on at the moment, there are also buildings as well, don't know if I can mention the channel, thanks for replies to my previous post, there is also a chance to win a special prize.
  7. Hi all I have recently purchased R759 engine number 4983 Albert hall loco, I have been trying to get the service sheet so I can give it a good clean, the name decals are missing from engine body and I would like to get new ones but don't know where to get them ??? Any info would be great, I also have some Dublo track that needs cleaned, I was told methelated spirit would work but didnt.
  8. RAF96 it is the second image three pole ringfield motor.
  9. I have unsoldered very thin wires from copper plates there is a brass bush which the comm appears to be attached to and the armature has some green insulating covering but I can only see one broken wire, I do not know motor number but it is a class 43 Hornby hst intercity late seventies I think, I have seen a picture on an auction where they were separated I thought it would split easily ???, once again thanks for replies.
  10. Advice needed, how do you split these two, do I need a press I don't have a vice only a joiners portable workbench, I would like to try and solder the coils to make a connection again, failing this a new assembly will be purchased, thanks once again for any info.
  11. Thank you STG, I stripped comm out of holder and there was a broken miniscule wire from one coil which when tested with my meter rings out through chassis but I can't see a place that would indicate where the wire was soldered onto, am I right in assuming that this cannot be repaired and a new comm assembly will have to be sourced on an well known auction site.
  12. Hello all, I am servicing my hst ringfield motor but there is no continuity between chassis and the coils on the commutater could it be a broken wire ?, or is the magnet demagnetised I am at a loss, unfortunately I have assembled my other cleaned motor into my other power car, thanks for any info.
  13. The hornbyguide.com site has a list of service sheets, hope this helps.
  14. Just an add on, when I get the plate off can I modify it to fit over the wheels to alleviate this in future.
