  1. I remember getting one for xmas as a boy. I used gloss red paint and got hairs and fluff all over it! My brother had a Bull Nose Morris. I painted his much better.
  2. I hope the Shannon fits together better than the Trent. I have been working on the Trent for what seems like an eternity! The fit is very poor and most of the smaal parts, especialy the railings were snapped on the sprues. It has been a VERY frustrating kit. I too very nearly binned it. I will be glad when ite finished.20240306_164314.heic Lol
  3. Still no 2024 calendar or the last magazine! The new Airfix club box came asap but no calendar. I am going to have to make some phone calls.
  4. My grandson got me the new airfix ME 110 desert version. A bit fiddly with my arthritic fingers but I am enjoying building it.
  5. I have just ordered my 2024 membership pack. I was pleasantly surprised. With my pints and club discount it only cost £28.50, bargain!
  6. It begs the question, Will there be an Airfix club 2024 package at all? Its a sure fire way to loose members. Lol
  7. I havn't recieved my calendar or the last copy of the magazine either.
  8. The Woder Works is very good. I took a group of friends in November. The airfix section is brilliant. There is an excellant model of a WW2 airbase, an amazing airfis kit pegboard and you can even take a selfie of yourself in a pilots seat on a sprue. Its well worth a visit
  9. Thanks Marto, I will have a look Lol
  10. Quit a lot of aviation museums welcome model aircraft for their displays. It might be worth contacting your local aviation museum. When I need space for new models I give my old ones to friends who appreciate them. Maybe some of your dads friends might like one as a reminder of their friendship. Lol
  11. Just a quick note, check you have an up to date flying hours card. The new ones ask for your email instead of your membership no. Also they list the new postage fee of £5.95. I very nearly used an old one Lol
  12. Thanks Scott and Andrew. I have just recieved the 1971 Mustang kit in 1/24th. Re living an unfinished childhood project. I was also wondering where I could get a motor. Lol
  13. Just visited Newark air museum shop. Lots of vintage kits for sale. Managed to find the first airfix kit I ever built. The 1/72nd Hellcat in blue plastic. This kit kickstarted a life time of modelmaking. I made a complete mess of it in 1969. Its time to make it properly. This will be a trip down memory lane.
  14. I have just received the Airfix 1/24th P-51 D Mustang. It's the original 1971 kit. I had one for Christmas in 1971 aged 9 when it was new. I never built it and over time it got lost. A case of unfinished business. 52 years later I can relive my child hood dream of completing the kit. Lol
  15. Every house needs a man cave. Mine is in the garden, known in the family as "Grandad's shed". It's an Alladin's cave of model kits of all shapes and sizes, model trains and tools. Lol
