  1. Done, works OK on programming track, thank you Fishy. I was a bit panicky, because I found early thread which said the R7150 wasn't suitable for the 88Ds, but that Hornby were working on it, hopefully it will work OK when I put it on the main track.
  2. At least someone is watching with a sense of humour
  3. I now have my Ruston & Hornsby 88Ds and the recommended decoder which is R7150 and there is my problem. They are both 6 pin and while 1. is clearly marked on the decoder, there is nothing on the loco or blank, ( have studied them under a microscope and there is nothing there). The six pins on the decoder are 1. Brown 2. Grey 3. Red 4. Black 5.White 6. Yellow on the motor it is 1. Grey 2. Brown 3. Black 4. Red with 5. and 6. no wires attached. Can someone please explain?
  4. That would be a great idea Bee, especially for pre-orders from the Antipodes when you want to make up the value to 250 pounds (after tax adjustments) for free postage. I tried but Hornby refused so I sourced the pre-order from elswhere (postage free)
  5. Or maybe he is a bit like me and just leaves some letters off when typing and being an extreme newbie didn't know how to correct it. Anyway, some are getting a little "picky" over it - didn't think the grammer police extended to this forum. I will have to double and tripple check my posts from now on.
  6. Is the speaker connected correctly, no loose wires, etc?
  7. Thanks Bee and 81F, just curious, as it it way out of my league (thinking wise)
  8. Just curious, What do those "test prints" cost a pop, I thought it was quite expensive, well, here in Aussieland not that cheap.
  9. I am looking at getting a Ruston & Hornsby loco and of course a suitable decoder. I notice there is the Hornby R7150 standard 6 pin decoder and a Soundtraxx 851001 MC1Z102P6 DCC Mobile Decoder, 6-Pin Plug which is A$20 cheaper (A$65 compared to A$45). Does anyone have any experience with the soundtraxx decoder. I am also concerned that the latter has fixed 6 pins, whereas the Hornby has a harness which might fit better.
  10. That is a lot of chocolate - can you get it in "sugar free"?
  11. Perhaps that shows there was only one dud out of the four
  12. That OK Bee, I have broad shoulders, one needs them when carrying the weight of the world on them. All I know about Reddit was when someone on another forum mad a rediculous claim, quoting someone one Reddit, and it was rubbish - never happened, never could happen, but a dozen people agreed with him.
  13. But if only Reddit contained actual facts and truths, instead of just someones opinions which are taken as fact.
  14. Finally got my P2 up and running. I managed to source it locally in Australia for the same price as Hornby original price and NO postage charges. So Win for me and Loss for Hornby sales, although they still got the sale in the beginning, but at a lower price. They would not bend the rules on the postage and could not sort out the failure to allow me to change the credit card details. Works perfectly, at slow pace the chuffs match the puffs, but once it gets some speed up, one doesn't notice it. Took about 15 minutes for the steam to appear, but now happy chappy.
  15. If is anything like the new "smoke" producing locos it will smell like water.
