  1. Done, works OK on programming track, thank you Fishy. I was a bit panicky, because I found early thread which said the R7150 wasn't suitable for the 88Ds, but that Hornby were working on it, hopefully it will work OK when I put it on the main track.
  2. At least someone is watching with a sense of humour
  3. I now have my Ruston & Hornsby 88Ds and the recommended decoder which is R7150 and there is my problem. They are both 6 pin and while 1. is clearly marked on the decoder, there is nothing on the loco or blank, ( have studied them under a microscope and there is nothing there). The six pins on the decoder are 1. Brown 2. Grey 3. Red 4. Black 5.White 6. Yellow on the motor it is 1. Grey 2. Brown 3. Black 4. Red with 5. and 6. no wires attached. Can someone please explain?
  4. That would be a great idea Bee, especially for pre-orders from the Antipodes when you want to make up the value to 250 pounds (after tax adjustments) for free postage. I tried but Hornby refused so I sourced the pre-order from elswhere (postage free)
  5. Or maybe he is a bit like me and just leaves some letters off when typing and being an extreme newbie didn't know how to correct it. Anyway, some are getting a little "picky" over it - didn't think the grammer police extended to this forum. I will have to double and tripple check my posts from now on.
  6. Is the speaker connected correctly, no loose wires, etc?
  7. Thanks Bee and 81F, just curious, as it it way out of my league (thinking wise)
  8. Just curious, What do those "test prints" cost a pop, I thought it was quite expensive, well, here in Aussieland not that cheap.
  9. I am looking at getting a Ruston & Hornsby loco and of course a suitable decoder. I notice there is the Hornby R7150 standard 6 pin decoder and a Soundtraxx 851001 MC1Z102P6 DCC Mobile Decoder, 6-Pin Plug which is A$20 cheaper (A$65 compared to A$45). Does anyone have any experience with the soundtraxx decoder. I am also concerned that the latter has fixed 6 pins, whereas the Hornby has a harness which might fit better.
  10. That is a lot of chocolate - can you get it in "sugar free"?
  11. Perhaps that shows there was only one dud out of the four
  12. That OK Bee, I have broad shoulders, one needs them when carrying the weight of the world on them. All I know about Reddit was when someone on another forum mad a rediculous claim, quoting someone one Reddit, and it was rubbish - never happened, never could happen, but a dozen people agreed with him.
  13. But if only Reddit contained actual facts and truths, instead of just someones opinions which are taken as fact.
  14. Finally got my P2 up and running. I managed to source it locally in Australia for the same price as Hornby original price and NO postage charges. So Win for me and Loss for Hornby sales, although they still got the sale in the beginning, but at a lower price. They would not bend the rules on the postage and could not sort out the failure to allow me to change the credit card details. Works perfectly, at slow pace the chuffs match the puffs, but once it gets some speed up, one doesn't notice it. Took about 15 minutes for the steam to appear, but now happy chappy.
  15. If is anything like the new "smoke" producing locos it will smell like water.
  16. I feel your pain dealing with the Australian rep from Hornby and the extreme postage cost A$100 for something costing A$100. And when you preorder something that is 260 pounds, which is free postage, they deduct the 20% VAT and add 10% GST which brings it down to 240 pounds so then add on the 50 pounds postage. Even Ned Kelly would not pull that stunt.
  17. Thank you all for drawing my attention to this, I had never heard of it, but decided to research and found a video of the show (1 hr 28 min) so Iam going to sit downand watch it in full. From what I saw, it was fascinating.
  18. Same here, but to complicate matters my email address in my account also has changed, so it wont allow me to access the pre-order from my account and it wont allow me to access via my previous email address as that account doesn't exist - catch 22. I have queried this with customer service and also raised the question on the problem of them reducing the 20%VAT and adding Australias 10% GST which will bring it just under 250 pounds which means they add on the 50 pounds postage instead of being free for orders over 250 pounds. Definate discrimination against we who live in the antipodes.
  19. Before this change I would go to the Forum as soon as I have switched my computer on, checked it several times during the day and (because I am on the opposite time zone to most) check it last thing at night before I switch off. NOW, I might check it twice a day and sometimes not at all, because it is just not user friendly to the non-computer geeks. I will probably just go back now when I have a problem or for a follow up, IF I can find the thread.
  20. As a fellow dyslecsic, I also don't notice tghe error for some time until the other side of my brain gets a look in, so I am all for no time limit. If you are responsible enough to note the error a few days later and there have been dozens of posts since, then you should be responible enough to draw the attention to the edit in a later post, especially if it has dire consequences. For example - Say you give a solution to a problem, but find out some time later that is was in error and could result in a decoder failure something like that. You put the correction in a dozen posts later. A newbie (me) comes along with same problem a year later, only reads down to your faulty post and perhaps a couple more, then goes and does what you suggested - Kaboom!!! goes the decoder or whatever.
  21. Still waiting to see if there are any other "collaborators" so I can collaborate with them. Still say it sounds very sinister. Definition of collabrator - "A collaborator is someone who helps an enemy who is occupying their country during a war"
  22. I am ranked a collaborator - sounds like I am back in that bad German era.
  23. Yes, Having just watched the doco "Mr Bates Vs the Post Office" in the UK, "Invision" sounds a bit like "Horizon"
  24. That is why I stay right away from all social media like that.
