  1. Your right. I picked up two NEW weathered Bachmann Suburban BR Blue Coaches for .... $80 POUNDS (160ish AUD) and the only way seller would get them to me is DHL I paid $265 AUD just in freight. YES it was worth it now I have them, but it's inspired another 10 videos in my series talking about ways to get around this. the seller made it a bit easier by sending me a free sticker 🙄
  2. This bloke loves the Hornby Approach to model railway and makes something that always seems complicated to a beginner appear to easy that he even amazes himself in some videos [PLEASE SEE BELOW LINKS TO A FEW]. Best advice, stop overthinking get in and try some things out. There is a mountain of YouTube and community right here and I have personally had direct dealings with the tech teams from both Hornby, DCC Concepts & indeed Peco who proposed solutions that should work and even I could see it would not so sometimes there is no true Oracle. It's the Fun of the hobby. Go with your instinct and if it feels good do it. I'm no purist I stick with the Hornby approach but as you will see some of these videos take the 'basic and non pro world' of model railway and still creates something simple easy cheap and still eye catching. Notice some of the best images of layouts featured in Hornby publications feature the Hornby Track and its insulfrog and if those glossy images sucked me into the hobby and i want to recreate them what does the inconvenience of one little black piece of plastic have to do with anything. All locos run seamlessly on DCC even at speed step 1 no drops or shorts NO COMPLICATED WIRING! and of course if that little bit of black plastic bothers you then just paint it and no one will ever know. And if they do so what it's all about YOU and your layout! ENJOY share your progress with us its a hoot and FREE STORAGE On YouTube is 50% why i shoot a video and leave them up there. Thats back to being cheap ha ha ha. 3. I think it's exactly what Hornby needed to do to remind us that there are still Humans at this organisation and that we can all have a top chuckle now Fragrantica gave it seven Noses so my question is where can I buy a bottle of this fine Pong. LOL
  4. SORRY i know i don't have an ID and once I have the answer you can delete this post i simply wanted to know what is this loco in the picture moving at a brisk pace pulling a Coach maybe coaches. While he performed all his own stunts and watching any one of these episodes in todays politically correct world full of OHSW it makes your heart skip a beat watching the Phantom pull some of these moves off. I like to think at least in this episode they did seek out an arrangement with the rail network and this was just what looks like a Class 08 with one carriage attached running at top speed to give the appearance of a fast train plus the practicality to control the scene? Of course while Shunting locos being used on actual main line runs is a story for another day could you tell me what LOCO it is it does not look like an 08 but something similar in a 0-6-0 arrangement. Thanks in advance OP
  5. WOW the year 2024 ' For a crumbly like me (mature person) its 'The Future' Or is it? Chasing a couple of new Locomotives and I understand after a few years companies will go back and retool a model and after a few years re-release again with a weathered or additional features. But it feels like something happened. Hornby WOWED us with a much needed upgrade to the XPT/125. So without mentioning the locos iI'm chasing (but very popular BR BLUE models) the hunt went on. Hornby, Bachmann ... Accurascale, Australian Model Shops, Getting desperate now we go to EBAY. SOLD OUT or Sometimes Pre-order.... Hrmm i was amazed really not even someone selling second hand, the market is slim pickings. OK Well lets get our name onto a list with a preorder. Contacted a manufacturer whom you can imagine..... Who told me you can not oder direct from us see one of these 26 Sellers in Australia. Contact many and no one would assist most did not even reply. Hrmm So I go back to XYZ manufacturer who brought the list down to 3. Contact all three only one was prepared and assured me they have 8 on preorder and would contact me once and or IF they arrive explaining they don't take deposits anymore more after NO show products and employing additional staff to sift through refunds. My local supplier in town has had ZERO joy dealing with the Australian rep from Hornby and i admit i have been fortunate to buy direct from the Hornby site albeit with extreme freight costs which is why we are recommended to stick with our local suppliers. I admit I'm not hip to the scene with the latest news and publications all i know is that in the Lawn Mower world in APR 2024 Briggs & Stratton can't get bodies to mount their lawnmower motors. Did the pandemic create a surge in people enjoying this marvellous hobby or is there logic to such a shortage? Thanks your your input & perhaps you have not noticed it and can pass on your preferred model supplier with healthy stock levels of BR Blue gear:) OP
  6. Thanks Hornby Forum another successful solution case closed.
  7. Hi team. Yes I appreciate the note regarding naming images but that’s why I’m here I don’t even know where to start with this one and not being from the UK I can only imagine London BR station illuminated platform signal to tell driver they good to leave the station. I wanted to model or try and recreate something similar but can some have a peep at the image below and tell me what is this? Cheers in advance for your assistance.
  8. Excellent. Yes see that’s the sort of resource I don’t have down this way I think the project will be a success and weathered seems to be the way to base on the amount of detail I keep throwing at the layout. Be sure to check out this weeks YouTube video it’s something a bit special. Just YouTube josef model railway and toy room. Thanks for the great input. Expect to see them in action before the end of the year.
  9. Hi All Fellow Enthusiasts. Happy Sunday & if i could indulge you for a moment with a couple of quick queries, - Hrmm looks like we have had a change to the forums I guess i will get use to it. I have always wanted a rake of these MK1 Suburban Blue coaches as seen in: Season 1 Episode 4 - Have a Break Take a Husband From the one and only 'Some Mothers Do 'Ave em. While I could just by the HORNBY BR4 VEP Class set it's not really for me i prefer a dedicated loco on the front some from people who are from Merry Ol' England I thought i would reach out to perhaps combinations of that would be semi passable that may have been seen. A quick google and I see some rakes of 4-5 coaches pulled by something that looks like a Class 25 or smaller, but you tell me what are appropriate BR Blue style locos that may have pulled these around? My layout era is between late 50s to early 90s so there is certainly plenty of scope for something. Also if Im going to buy these new what should look good for say a 4-5 rake. IE should there be a brake car at either end to give simplicity if you were to swap the locos running direction? Also while weathered usually looks better on my layout, I can't help but think to go with the clean blue and just dust some detail on as or if needed but curious what others think. My Wife and other family members all go the clean resplendent blue and not just because its 3 times cheaper. LOL Thoughts? AS ALWAYS thanks in advance for all your help & time OP
  10. Nope nothing complex just a small fishing boat yes i will explore this further i also posted the Q to the Airfix Forum under boats and vessels so will keep you posted im surprised its not a method that many have not done this before. I noticed on the coastal scene one of the boats i set in there is certainly not going anywhere and that was with the woodland scenics realistic water Thanks for the help
  11. Hi all a tricky one but hopefully not for you talented people. NOTE I have sent several enquiries to Woodland Scenics & still no response as yet. I have been working on a highly detailed boat. I want to display it in a canal with the water wrapped around it like on other parts of my layout. HOWEVER I still want the ability to pickup the boat up so people can view it close up. DO I take some Airclay or Blu tac or similar and cut a footprint out of the boat lay it into scene POUR (Woodland Scenics Realistic water or DEEP POUR [2 part mix]{most likely} . Then once dry just hack out that clay or similar? Iam sure there is a trick to this. & Look forward to hearing it. I was hoping i could just wrap the boat in a non stick (baking Paper / Cling Film Material) and tada. All advice greatly received. OP
  12. Yes i believe thats a wise move i have various products and i have a few spare life boats & tender's i could certainly knock up some different scenarios and try. I certainly ended up with a heck of a vessel which was never the original plan but now its done i'm reluctant to even put it into the scene deserves its own display case. NAH! had some whoopsee daisy's with some instructions that could have made better use of the materials on the sprue but I guess thats the lure to the hobby if everything was easy we would all be doing it LOL..

  14. Superb answers thanks to all yes I’m ooen to anyone who has a 3d printer who might be doing one to keep me posted. It’s another world I just don’t have enough hours to explore. Let’s hope some genius pops up on ETSY with one pre painted ready to send for fifty pounds lol. I have purchased a few custom made oo people and with freight worked out to be about $210 Australian dollars or some $105 pounds for a single figure but as many will appreciate it’s worth every cent and I’m happy since steady hands and eyes that are that fine are not my greatest selling points. FC yes that’s the correct term I needed. Cheers.
  15. Hi All. While the world ‘Fat’ is not allowed in our house Ha ha my little one and I still watch the Ringo narrated eps of of Thomas with the Fat Controller. Is or was there a HO / OO MODEL of him made and or someone you know recreated him on Etsy or similar to have on the station platform? Cheers
