  1. Has anyone managed to get their decoder working with a Samsung S5 phone (Android 6.0.1)? My 8 pin decoder would not link properly or reset properly. I'm using the recommended P9300 transformer and adapter cable. The app downloaded and installed ok. The app found the decoder ok and installed Bluetooth firmware update ok, but then failed on APROM firmware update. So it was in an inconsistent state in the app. No reset code was displayable in the app. Any attempts at loading a profile were met with 'Error installing sound pack ota_prepare startPrepareOTAmode error'. Hornby support advised me to reset the decoder with a special reset code. I did the reset in the app and it said reset complete. Although, the app never asked for a reset code (perhaps it doesn't all the time?) But after a power cycle of decoder and new scan the decoder was still in Resettable Devices instead of Linkable devices. I tried multiple times to reset the decoder and force closing the app, restarting the smart phone, deinstalling and reinstalling the app, each time power cycling the decoder. But the app scan still kept showing the decoder in Resettable Devices. The app never asked for a reset code once for all the times I did a reset, the app just went ahead and said it was resetting then reset complete. But afterwards the decoder was still in Resettable Devices even after power cycling etc. The app had all permissions and all location, bluetooth, wifi were all enabled on the phone. In the end I borrowed a Samsung S20+ phone and it reset and linked first time with no problems at all. The reset also asked for the reset code which the app never asked for on the Samsung S5. So posting this here to see if anyone had similar issues on older Samsung phone especially S5 and any suggestions? Anyway, the decoder is working brill with the S20+ phone and sounds fab!
  2. You're spot on Stubaggieboy, this second price increase is a step too far. I pre-ordered (with a retailer) the class 91 last year when the price with retailer discount was £152.99. The price now is now RRP £217.99, so now nearly £200 with retailer discount. This is not acceptable to me. I know this is a newly tooled model, but looking at the pictures it's not that good. It's not worth £200. Hornby were over charging for the class 91 anyway. They did the new APT NDM for RRP £120.99. The only difference between the cost of making that and the class 91 is that the class 91 has lights, yet the original RRP of the class 91 was £169.99, £49 more that the NDM in the first place. Now the class 91 is even more. Why is the class 91 so much more than the APT NDM. They are both newly tooled models with motor and pantograph, DCC ready. The cost of lights for the class 91 should not make it £49 more in the first place, now the class 91 is nearly £100 more than the APT NDM! Hornby are taking the mickey, so I shall be cancelling my pre-orders.
  3. Mine arrived undamaged from TMC via Royal Mail. It runs ok as well. I can't see how the ice cube packaging can cause damage, it doesn't touch the areas that people are reporting damaged. I nearly didn't buy one because I hate those flangeless wheels but I can hardly see them when it's on the track. I think the colour and paint finish are superb and the details are very good. It's not the quietest loco I have but it's not run in yet.
  4. It's really great to see the models as the development progresses instead of an announcement just before release that another manufacturer does. The W1 looks to have made a step up in quality compared to previous samples - well done! I have a R3840 in grey on pre-order but it also looks fabulous in Apple Green - very tempting! Do you know, will there be flanged wheels included for the trailing pony?
