  1. Thanks all for the replies, I'll stick with the decoder method, I knew there'd be another catch to the simplicity!
  2. I'm assuming there is a setting in RM to operate this port? I have just received a turntable and decoder but if the decoder can be swapped for the HM6010 (also giving 3 ports for point control) it saves a lot of additional wiring to get it working via RM
  3. Sorry to jump in on this, does this mean that RM can use the TT port on the HM6010 in-lieu of needing a separate decoder for the turntable?
  4. Disappointed if this is the case, was at least hoping for a database update for the newer locos to appear or some sort of integration of RM into the HM7000 system (irked that I can't use a select as a walkabout with RM but that's another issue)
  5. The megapoints option does look good, and they have a dcc module available as well, though not a cheap option for a few motors (unless I decide to motorise the level crossing as well!) as I've already invested in the solenoid point motors across the layout so don't fancy replacing those yet. Might just have to stick to the bent paperclip for the time being
  6. Hmmmm I missed the voltage requirements on the tlu and don't really fancy needing to put another supply in on top of the lighting bus and dcc bus so perhaps back to the drawing board. I'm perplexed by the ribs on the Hornby decoupler. Why knowingly put something on which most will need to file off. The areas where these will be used will be mostly shunters with said protuding gear so that's a faff (actually liked the one click operation from the motors). The heathcote one did look like a great idea, just a bit more effort than I was planning on with the wiring and control. Nothings ever easy 😂
  7. Not sure whether this would come under DCC or Railmaster but here goes... Now I (think) I'm finally happy with my layout I've been looking at the various uncoupling methods available. The Hornby point motor activated ones seem to require some modification to get working and I'm not sure whether I want a piece of plastic sticking up which only works in one direction, which has lead me to the GMC-TLU. Is this something which can be operated via DCC and the Hornby accessory decoder? I'm thinking an extended pulse (few seconds) in standard mode should suffice to uncouple? I have read something about insulation for interference as well due to the way it operates. Is there anything else I've missed that can be easily operated via the accessory decoder?
  8. Going to have a try with the steamer and scraper attachment providing the new station layout works as expected, otherwise will just revert back
  9. Next stop is taking up some of the ballast mat now to rejig the stations. the pendolino is a big longer than I thought and doesn't fit! Any tips on removing mat stuck down with pva?
  10. Looks like it's done the trick! As it can be mounted 4 ways (vs the hornby one's 2) I've managed to get it on the inside of the curve on a small straight just before the points where the nose doesn't catch.
  11. It is in the straight side. It's just that the point is just after a curve so the front overhang catches it. Does mean more consideration for placement of the motors elsewhere when I get that far
  12. I had tried that but the loco wouldn't go back on the chassis. After jiggling a few bits around I did finally get it on but it was a real tight fit. Need to check the b2b gauge on it now as it's really struggling through points
  13. I finally managed to acquire a virgin liveried pendolino recently however the issue I'm having is it catching on a hornby surface mount point motor which is situated a bit too close to a bend. Are the peco surface mount motors compatible with hornby points and more importantly are they of a lower profile? I'm not sure I've got the room for the r8015 hut and r8014 and due to the position of the offending points going under the base board isn't going to work either. Thoughts?
  14. Hi Bought the above recently and a 6 pin decoder to go with it. Only issue is the insides look nothing like the instructions and I can't seem to arrange it all in a way to fit inside the extremely limited space. Any ideas?
