  1. Well I received the email from Hornby, followed the link and guess what? Yet once again it's unavailable. There must be people with bots buying them up to sell at inflated prices as they did with the Coronation Collector's special. It's impossible to get the good locos as they are sold out or unavailable before the notification arrives despite having notified them I wanted one. Yet another huge con. :(
  2. They have definitely been issued. I had several packets on pre-order and they were delivered toward the beginning of Feb. Looks like they have sold out. Hope some more will be produced otherwise it's going to be a waste of time using them.
  3. Yes but if you search for "sold items", you will find that few if any achieved those silly prices.
  4. Well I had one on "notify me" alert and nothing appeared. So if the did come back in stock, then it shows it's a waste of time trying to do a stock alert. It was "sold out" when I got the email saying it was available. I bet at least half are being sold to speculators. Hope they get their fingers burnt but at the price it was sold that is unlikely. Just about giving up on Hornby. The changes to the membership and things like this are the final nail.
  5. It is a loco I have wanted for many years. I do have an unmade kit for the loco but initially thought to buy this. However, I won't. The loco entered service in June 35. Almost exactly a year later, she was fitted with the 40 element domed boiler but because of initial teething problems with the reverse turbine and 4 visits to the works, she was in the shed for nearly half. With the removal of the discount as well, I shall probably build the K's kit into the version which was the longest lived and can be run alongside the Coronation loco's as she had the domed boiler a year before they entered service.
  6. I stopped watching the program. Too many inaccuracies particularly from Simon making me cringe.
  7. I have wanted one for years. There are several problems with the Hornby offering. It seems they have changed anyway. Firstly it was DCC ready and decoder fitted options. Now it seems to be DCC ready and sound fitted. Although the artwork does show the correct tender steps, the loco only had a domeless boiler for a few months. It enetered service with a 32 element domeless boiler but there were teething problems. Less than a year later it was fitted with a 40 element domed boiler as depicted on the BR version. In that period of around 11 months, it was in the works for a total of 155 weeks. It got the domed boiler a rear before the first of the Coronation entered service so if you want to run one alongside any of the Coronation's it needs a domed boiler. Despite some of the inaccuracies I was finally tempted to pre-order one only to find the 10% club discount has gone. Sorry Hornby, just about all of your Princess models are inaccurate as you keep trotting out the same model under different names and now the discount has gone. Hardly worth buying now.
  8. I signed in within a couple of hours of the announcement to find them sold out. If you are getting 10, I'll gladly buy one off you but not at silly speculator eBay prices.
  9. The Collector's club is now a joke. Had Hornby been more forthright about removing the discount, I would not have joined. Just wish there were a way to unjoin. Sorry Hornby, you have just got rid of the best reason for joining and for buying Hornby rather than the other brands.
