  1. I am conciouse these posts may be boring. Should I continue with updates which may help/inspire others or stop?
  2. This is how it's looking as of today. Numerous buildings painted although not all are where they will remain, platforms made, the raised reverse loop finished with painted bridge now in place. Loads to do still and this is only a third of the layout. Next steps are finishing the new rock/road bridge area, finishing the station area and adding two surface motors that I can hopefully hollow out part of the platform to hide them underneath.
  3. Making your own from plywood is quite easy as is covering with platform printed designs that are readily available. Mine went from the previous post to this And then to this, nearly finished. Platform on the left is done. Brick detail to add to one on the right.
  4. This will be the main station area. The section in the middle (2 tracks either side) is too narrow for tt120 platforms so will be making my own.
  5. Yes, my loops are mm,s too narrow and the supplied platforms are no good for curves. To overcome this I am currently making my own platforms from some left over ply I have. Just waiting for a sander. It's no where near finshed yet but the pic gives the general idea. I will make more for my main station area which is similar to yours.
  6. That's your 5 mins of fame smiley
  7. I second the hornby fishplates........where are they?
  8. And this is how they look when painted (not wearthered yet) by a novice.

  10. Got these today from ms models and pleasantly surprised they came fully built. I have primed them ready for painting at some point. Also getting prepared for grassing with the arrival of these bits.
  11. From these https://sr3ddesigns.co.uk/
  12. Sculpting plaster added to fill in all the gaps. And the final painted rock face all done.
  13. Good video. First time? I thought you were a seasoned modeller with the speed you go and the ease in which you do it. I too am really enjoying the scenery all of which is new but being done at a much slower pace. Well done you must be proud of what you have done. It looks brilliant!
  14. This is a much better photo under better lighting and shows how it actually looks against what I will be painting.
  15. Rocks made and in position. Awaiting sculpting plaster to fill the gaps then aim to paint it all. I have had a go at painting some spare plaster rock I made from the moulds. This is the outcome after only one attempt. I am really chuffed with it.
  16. In the not too distant future I will be putting grass on my layout in the section I have posted. I know there is a load of stuff on social media about this. It is probably easier to ask you lot advice regarding size, make, grass applicator etc and any decent trees?
  17. Went for it today and put all the planning to one side and just did what came to my mind. A bit of insulation board, chicken wire, cardboard covered in plaster bandage and I have done the below. The road bridge and rocky hillside will both be removable so I can get to those problem areas. Really enjoyed applying the plaster bandage. I am going to finish this end first breaking it down into manageable sections.
  18. I painted this bridge, my very first effort. After adding the mortar it was not lookin good as it stood out too much and was not very realistic. After a bit of thought I applied some black wash which has toned it all down. I am very happy with the result. If I can do it anyone can!
  19. Always thought one day I might build a layout but never really committed to it or took it seriously. TT 120 was the spark. For me it's the planning and building that is most rewarding. I am in no rush and perhaps my slow pace keeps my interest going supported by being able to do bits as and when I feel like it. It is relaxing, fun and sometimes an escape from other pressures👍
  20. Grabbed a spare 20 minutes and finished the upper level reverse loop (I may straighten it). Thats it! all track now laid. Christmas drink time beer
  21. With most of the track now laid it's time for some fun. Just as it should be, trains everywhere! 😄
  22. I saw them when they were the wrong way and could not work out what it was. Much better now and looking very good.
