A Wobbly Bodger? 😂😂😂

You are a champion bodger 😂

Fantastic layout
-
Thank you
-
Excellent layout and a non you tube vid, how did you upload that?

Have to say a much better presentation and Q&A session a few hours after where I even managed to slip in a sarcastic reply to Hollybush. Worth it just for that 😀 The additional releases are very tempting and I think the J50 is a must for me. The only problem I have is that all this new stuff stops me getting on with my layout......well done Hornby 👍

Absolutely right, as with this portal I am happy so can move on as I know I will not forever be messing with it aka OCD 😂
-
Same here...way too late
-
One of the last tunnel portals painted and now in place. I really like this one and keep looking at it thinking did I do that? Just got to finish and fit the one to the right.

A large engine shed is on my list of wants.

Thanks for the comment. Nothing against diesels, I always planned that I could change my layout to a heritage line, that way I can run anything 👍

Sorry, I cannot answer your question as I do not own a 08, steam era only here (for now). One thing to consider is that my incline starts on curves which adds to the drag.
-
My incline is 2% (without powerbase). I tried more but loco's would not travel up any thing more than 2%. Even tried the dcc concepts powerbase which made no improvement. You may have better results.
-
Since starting my layout I have put off the incline as did not really know what to do to cover the white polystyrene. Today I did this to it, with some weeds etc added to it in due course to soften it I think it has worked. Before After

The addition of a ford cortina and DCI Gene Hunt would sort out that shifty bloke 😂
-
Thanks both, I will leave them as they are and see how they look once the scenery is done.
-
Looks brilliant. No doubt tomorrow it will be a fishing port 😂

Last post for a bit. I am not sure about the blue brick portal I have made. I was thinking that as so many structures on railways were constructed from enginering bricks due to their strength then I should have at least one thing made from them. Perhaps the lack of any scenery makes it stand out. I could swap it back to red brick, change the one under the girder bridge (not yet finished) to blue brick. Thoughts?

May be of help to others. I have been thinking about pre made tunnel portals, none would fit so I have made some of my own custom prototypes and with a bit of tidying/altering they are ideal. Built from card and printed walls (railscenes) They are really easy to do.

A little time to watch the very first train passing through Lilbourne station. Makes it all worth while! 😃
-
Next is the main line station platforms. Due to cost, they will be longer than you see here. I think I am going to make these again.

Then chicken wire frame covered in plaster bandage and then topped with a layer of plaster of paris.

May be useful, my personal expetience, I tried several different inclines all including curves of at least r3/4 and wider. I found anything over 2% was too much and loco's could not manage it. Even tried the dcc magnets and plates (power base) under the tracks but this did not make any difference. I settled for 2% with no power base and not had any problems.
