  1. I wanted some fish plates but on their own that would have not been cost effective due to the shipping charge and all the rolling stock and locomotives of interest I already possess so no help there! Instead I've ordered some additional pieces of set track to play around with. Just enough to get the free shipping!
  2. Quite a few episodes have been filmed in Berkshire as well. Several of the quaint little villages near where I live have had their fair share of Midsomer murders. This is a dangerous place to be 😂
  3. It's most likely the same issue as seen with the 50' parcel coach causing the R3 restriction so hopefully the modification some people have done to the parcel coaches will fix it for R2 curves. With my parcel coach I did notice the binding when I initially pushed it by hand but then when I hooked it up to an A4 locomotive it was happy going around my R2 curves in conjunction with 3 MK1 coaches however I suspect a whole rake of coaches with the binding issue would have been a little more problematic.
  4. Sadly reading between the lines after the 2024 launch Q&A and from watching Peachy and Mac's interview I believe they are having trouble developing the 6 pin chipset in a form factor small enough to fit. I expect a long wait before these things actually appear hence the release date has been kicked down the road by a year. I will be looking for another solution to chip my 08's whether this being an alternative DCC 6 pin chip + controller or attempting to shoe horn the 8 pin chip in.
  5. I must get a TARDIS of my own. They seem a very useful device 😀
  6. Anything goes with mine although I do have a bias towards diesels and electric and am not scared of modern stuff. The only thing I would try not to do is run things together that don't make sense. So it'll be the mood of the day determining what's in play! Naturally restricted by what Hornby lets me have 😁
  7. There will one day be a 9F Evening Star in my collection being one of the iconic "must haves". Will I get a black one for freight duties? Who knows although from experience I suffer a bit of mission creep with my purchases so there is a high probability 😂 With TT120 especially in these early days I think having an eclectic mix and am open mind is helpful hence a lot of A1, A3 and A4s when in an ideal world I would have probably just got a Mallard and a Flying Scotsman. It will be interesting to see what my collection will look like in a few years. I suspect over time it will become more biased towards diesels and electric locomotives with a more modern look. However I remember watching the "Hornby a model world" episode where they interviewed Jules Holland and he was asked what he ran. Basically he had an eclectic mix but what was run on a particular day would match - this appealed to me 😃
  8. BR blue works for me especially anything reasonably region agnostic so there would have been a possibility of seeing it run in the western region. The era 7 & 8 HSTs fall into this camp although they have eastern running numbers but I can tolerate this aberration as long as I don't look too closely 😂 I can understand that more modern stuff due to the regional liveries could be a little more problematic. I was happy to buy a GWR Green HST as it made sense but if it had been launched in GNER blue it is unlikely I would have placed that order simply due to the livery being wrong. Paradoxically if they launched a TT120 version of something like a Javelin or a Flirt I might be tempted simply down to them being interesting even though I would never see one running locally. As for running steam - I was 1 year old in the last days of steam so have no nostalgic memories of steam trains. I'm happy to run them but I think it makes me a little more tolerant of things from out of region which is probably a good thing given the Eastern region bias we currently have 😂

  10. All it would take is a bit of a dry spell where I've not bought anything for a few weeks months coupled with a too good to be true promotional discount 🤣
  11. Do what I did and give in the the inevitable - all 3 class 50's sitting on pre-order. It didn't feel right to discriminate 🤣 Mind you when it came to the class 66 I had to be a bit more harsh as there was no way I could justify 5 variants so only 3 made the cut. Although the pictures of the Colas Rail freight 66 from the weekend just looks so tempting. Will resist...
  12. Thanks Tim! I must admit the photo of the class 66 in the Colas Rail livery does look stunning. Much better than the image in the website shop! That particular variant isn't one of my class 66 pre orders however having seen the photo I almost wish I had ordered one. I will resist 😂
  13. Did they mention if it would be renumbered? They might get a few repeat orders if they did!
  14. My preference would be for 2 or more powered locos chipped with DCC decoders. I could consist them if I wanted to run them together but have the option of separating them and having individual running trains. This would give me the best of both worlds
  15. They coupled fine with the exception of the coach I had to reverse. However I did need to make sure they where coupled so a little hand of god intervention to make sure all was good. Basically you cannot simply reverse on a straight to couple and get it instantly hooked up. Uncoupling with my little card tool - mo problem!
