  1. There's something else going on Anyone who follows my posts here in the forum will see that I really enjoy running my locomotives with sound on the model railway. With this article I would first like to try to show what the sound should be improved on. When it comes to the sounds that can be called up using the function keys, it should be taken into account whether they could be heard while stationary, while driving, or always! For example, switch and curve squeaks can only be heard when driving! The direction switch can only be heard when stationary, but also when the direction of travel is changed. If such properties are taken into account in the AFC button. the illusion becomes even more exemplary! I don't understand why in AFC mode you can only select up to F-key 20 and none of the AUX connections. At least F1 and F2 should be included here. There are certainly other points that could be improved, but this can be addressed gradually. My next suggestion concerns the app’s user interface. The + and - buttons for speed would have to be a little larger so that you can hit them reliably. If it were possible to link the speed slider to an external encoder, perhaps even with additional buttons (brakes, stop and change of direction), that would be extremely helpful for operation. However, it would be even better to have a real hand controller with the ability to assign some of the buttons yourself! I would be happy if one or two suggestions were implemented at some point. It sends friendly greetings, Ralf from Germany
  2. HM 7K in Germany... Although there are currently no sounds for German locomotives, the HM 7K is also enjoying growing popularity in Germany. At least that's the impression I got after I presented the decoder and its advantages in a forum. If anyone is interested in this post, here is the link to the post: https://www.schmalspur-treff.de/t1241f20394-Hornby-Bluetooth-Decoder.html I would be happy if my enthusiasm for this decoder spreads to other model railroaders. Greetings from Germany, Ralf
  3. Good morning Unfortunately I didn't realize that there was already a similar post branch, maybe a moderator can bring them together!? What's good is that I'm not alone with my thoughts. 96RAF writes: "It has been suggested to Hornby that a tactile handheld controller should be marketed and this is being considered. A simple Bluetooth box with a speed button, a screen showing the locomotive ID, selected direction and functions, and buttons for the Direction and all functions." A hand controller like this would be exactly what I imagined! If such a BT hand controller were marketed by Hornby, it would be an absolute unique selling point for HM|DCC 7K with the potential for even greater fun playing with the model railway! !!!If desired, I can go into more detail about the even greater fun of the game.!!! Regarding the assignment of the function keys, both in the app and in DCC operation, I would still like to make a request to the team at Hornby: Please check whether it is possible to move the brake button to the area between F4 and F8. This would ensure that the brake can be reached on almost all DCC controllers! The brake button in the app shouldn't care which F button the brake is applied to!?
  4. Hello friends of the HM-DCC 7K decoder I now use several HM-DCC 7K decoders and am very satisfied with them. Considering the price, the decoder offers some features that some other decoders do not have. By far the biggest advantage of these decoders is that the signals from the smartphone are sent directly to the locomotive!! As long as the locomotive is powered and there is a Bluetooth connection to the locomotive, the locomotive driver always has access to his locomotive. The app is reasonably easy to use, but you always have to look at the screen to trigger a function... A "device" with a dial and a few (necessary) buttons would certainly be a big help here. Being able to use your DCC hand control is true, but it negates the benefits of connecting directly to the locomotive!! Another disadvantage is that the function keys cannot be freely selected and transferred to the DCC hand controller. In particular, I'm missing the brake button!! If I could set the braking function to F4 to F10 in the app and then pass that on to my DCC hand controller, the driving pleasure would be much better! Please don't misunderstand, this is all whining at a high level! These are wishes and thoughts that could perhaps position the product even better on the market and give us model railroaders even more joy. Please excuse my bad English, the text was translated from German into English using a translator Kind regards from Germany, Ralf
  5. Liebe Grüße Ralf after switching browsers, I can finally join in here. Many thanks again to Chris and you. Greetings Ralf
