  1. CURED!! I done a hard reset on the dongle, then re linked it to the app. It went straight through.. no update required, no code required.. and at least now I can see the dongle and it's reset code which has duly been noted down on a piece of paper which I'll probably lose in a day or so.. Such a shame the system only reads/writes HM7000 CV's.. Maybe I'm asking to much.
  2. Surely I can't be the only one who's having trouble with my much anticipated dongle. It arrived today.. I was quite excited to get it setup and see how good it was. (could be) I followed the instructions to the letter.. Linked fine and then asked to be updated (firmware) so I duly tapped the update button and instantly got a message saying update failed, firmware error (or something very similar) please try again... that didn't work.. I've powered cycled everything and now the dongle is showing as a "resettable device" which I can't do as I don't have the reset code... Seems I'm stuck already... Hornby select without update.. could that be an issue?
  3. I have both Hornby and Cavalex 56's The Hornby 56086 is fitted with a 21 pin HM7000txs and the Cavalex 56093 has the ESU loksound 5 as supplied. I currently use a Hornby "Select" to control the Cavalex but with its limitations I can't access functions past F8. I went down the route of sound fitted Cavalex as I have a bluetooth dongle on pre order which I'm praying will allow me to control the Cav from the app, I've no doubt I'll have to customise the function map to suit. I must say (IMHO) the sound profile on the ESU Cav 56 is far better than the HMDCC 56 profile which is fine when running but at idle it rather annoyingly keeps whispering "Go wash your hands" Once you hear it you can't unhear it.... EVER... :( If the app does indeed control the Cav 56 (dongle dependant) then the Hornby 56 will be getting a loksound decoder and then the 21 pin HMDCCtxs can go in something that has a less annoying Hornby sound profile..
  4. I think I'll be running my class 101 DMU with the class 08 or class 31 sound profile until a DMU profile becomes available...
  5. I'm in a similar boat.. As I'm building up a small collection of old locos from various online sources I'm converting them to DCC but I can't justify buying a HM7000 sound decoder for each one so I tend to move the decoders around into the locos I'm running. but as each has a different speaker enclosure I want to leave the speakers and stay alives in their respective locos. not a problem with the stay alives as they are readily available from Hornby (well they were, I think I bought the last two) but trying to find the correct speakers with plugs has been impossible. My only realistic option at the moment is to buy 1mm pitch JST plugs and sockets then make up adapters from the original 0.8mm "hornby" plugs to female 1mm JST then I can use any 8 ohm speaker that has a 1mm JST plug, the adapter remains with the decoder on it's travels from loco to loco...
  6. Thanks RAF I'll give it a go.. at least I only have three to do..
  7. I'm having the same issues.. I only have three locos, the latest one was fitted with it's decoder today. Yesterday I had absolutely no issues, neither of the locos had little blue "H" and both responded perfectly to commands from my android tablet.. Today I received a new decoder from Hornby, exactly the same as fitted to my existing locos (HM7000-8TXS) I fitted it to my 08 shunter and sat it on the track all alone to do the downloads/updates etc. All went well, everything worked as it should so off I went to put the body back on... returned to the track and put all three locos on to have a play.. that didn't go well. my existing locos connected but the 08 wouldn't, I thought I'd pinched a wire or something but no, all looked good. I tried it on it's own, still would have no of it.. Anyway to cut a long story short.. It would appear that I now have a "Host" loco which can be the 08 if it's on the track alone, If I add another loco (my 55) whilst the 08 is host then the 55 doesn't connect until I restart the app but then the 55 becomes host and the 08 won't connect.... If I then add my 47 it connects straight away. I just cannot get all three to connect at the same time.. very very annoying and puzzling.. Pete
  8. Thanks 96RAF I've got to grips with the CV's, now I have all sorts of custom speed curves, Vhigh's etc.. So really only the button sizes for + and - that seem so small and the three page compact F buttons that could/should be adapted in the next update. Pete.
  9. Hi 96RAF, It's not a tablet issue it's the saving of the edited picture that corrupted the file.. Thanks for the tips on the setting of throttle response, the throttle slider still doesn't move from zero unless given a few boots from the "+" key. I've also gone over to compact function keys which on the tablet are lovely but still on three pages, maybe in compact mode they could be all on one page, Just a suggestion. unedited screen shot attached.
  10. I am just getting used to this system as I've only just come back to the hobby after a 45 year lay off... I must say I'm impressed so far, maybe time will throw up some limitations. I do have a couple of suggestions.. The app appears to lock the throttle/speed slider whenever its dropped to zero or the stop button is pushed, the only apparent way to get the slider active again appears to be by using the "+" button a couple of times and then the slider becomes active again. Maybe it's like that for a reason or just a glitch but it's very annoying (for me)The "+", "-" and throttle buttons are way to small for my chubby fingers, especially when using a tablet, there is plenty of real estate can they be made bigger?Again on a tablet, the function buttons "engine start" "horn" etc are huge and spread across three pages, the real estate could quite easily fit all three pages of decently sized buttons on one pageI'd like to see the throttle more exponential rather than linear, I'm sure many of us use the lower end of the scale a lot more than the top end. It wouldn't surprise me if this could be achieved by editing the CV's but that's a hole I'd rather not go down and it'd probably need doing separately for every decoder.Amateur picture edit attached... ;) Yellow and blue could move to be more central. Red buttons really need to be bigger. All 30 function controls would easily fit on one page for tablet format. Many thanks for reading this... (if anyone actually does) Pete
