Choobacca
Does anyone know if any of the A4's ever had a full valance when painted in BR Blue or Experimental Purple? I've only ever seen them with valances when in LNER Garter Blue. Thanks.
VESPA
I am sure that some had valances in Doncaster Green livery. I really should know as I have one in that livery but packed away for about 7 years now.
Postman Prat
Hi. The valances were only fitted to A4s between building and 1942/43. Therefore no BR liveried locos had them (or Garter Blue post war locos) The valences were carried by the Silver A4s, Pre-war Garter Blue locos as well as those painted LNER Green. They were probably all black when they were removed. Hope this is of use. Choobacca said: Does anyone know if any of the A4's ever had a full valance when painted in BR Blue or Experimental Purple? Postman Prat
Hi, Poliss, the LNER Encyclopaedia is a very good site, isn't it. Not just for this item but generally. Also the forums can be very informative. I do like the 'sound effects' at the beginning of the A4 section - real raising the hairs at the back of the neck. poliss said: Liveries at the LNER Encyclopedia. <a href=">http://www.lner.info/locos/A/a4.shtml">http://www.lner.info/locos/A/a4.shtml ----------------------------- Get off the line Bobby. poliss
It has sound effects? I don't think I've ever had my speakers turned on when looking at that website.-----------------------------Get off the line Bobby.
Postman Prat
The section you're refering to has. Very short ones, but with the sound turned up you might scare the people next door if the Quasimodo impersonation hasn't already done so!!! poliss said: It has sound effects? Choobacca
I love those sound samples on the LNER website. The first 2 are quite eerie.
