Before the accsident the buffers were not sprung but I was wondering if any one new how to make the buffers sprung when I get the new buffers. Please Help. VESPA
I don't think you can without removing all the old buffers from the loco and a small repaint job. I am sure that if you are competent enough it would be fairly straightforward. Just a swap for swap buffer is unlikely. I hope you understand what I mean. VESPA
I did reply before but it disappeared. You can fit sprung buffers but will have to butcher the buffer beam and take all the old buffer away to fit new ones.

Fireman_Ian
Jacob, Hi A while ago I replaced buffers with sprung buffers , I found them at Abbiegailes http://www.hornbyspares.com/x8268-buffers-springs-nuts-pk4-j94-hss211-p-132.html I managed to fit them by filing off the old buffers and drilling holes in the beam. VESPA
Hello Fireman Ian, I saw those but did not consider them as they were round and class 40 buffers are oval. I am sure I have seen oval ones somewhere on the same fitting method.
