Gaugemaster Controller Model DF Twin Track Feedback

Keep seeing theses advertised but what exactly does feedback mean in this connection?  What is special about them.  Are they good for a mixture of new and old locos.  I just can not see anything about them other than general comments about Guagemaster but there must be something different about them other than the red colour?

Feedback controllers monitor the back EMF (Electro Motive Force) from the motor and vary the voltage supplied to the track in an attempt to keep the loco moving at the set speed, adjusting for climbs, descents and load etc.  Rather like cruise control on a car.

Sometimes it doesn't work as well as it should and some motors don't respond well to feedback controllers.

Hello CM. I have used one of these for many years with excellent results on DC.

I assume most layouts use plenty of curves/points for shunting/ovals and this controller keeps the initial speed set despite the extra drag required at these points, particularly with heavy loads.

Mine came with a lifetime guarantee, which I have used. No quibbles just plain good service.

What more could you ask for?
