Bulleidboy
An update! I have checked through my back copies of The Hornby Collector (The club magazine), and in Issue One dated October/November 1997, in the Editorial it says " that the first 5000 new subscribers to the Club will qualify for a free, exclusive Hornby railway model every year upon joining or renewing your subscription". The 1997 model was a Black 0-4-0 Saddle Tank No.56038 with British Railways on the boiler side - it does not give an "R" number for this model. It looks as though this model continued through 1998, and then in 1999 R6090 Vee Tank Wagon was offered. I think all later models have been covered in the above postings. The 2003 model was a blue Caledonian Railway Class OF 0-4-0 ST locomotive No.270. It would appear that prior to 1997 (Oct/Nov) there was Team Hornby, which became The Hornby Collector. If I can be of further assistance please don't hesititate to ask. cowside
I have just acquired a barely used blue 6028 King George VI in immaculate condition. There is very little info on the web about this model, although I found an R2309 from around 2003/4 which maybe was made for the Hornby Collector Club. Checking Hatton's decription of a used R2309 it had sold this model was not DCC Ready - which would be reasonable for that date. My model, however, has the later DCC Ready chassis and intriguingly the original Hornby box has no R number or loco name on it. Can anyone shed any light on this loco, maybe its year and R number? walkingthedog
Cowside you need to put this in the General section. Hardly anybody looks at the Club section.
alan_harris
Can any one tell me the catalogue number and description of the 2017 Collectors Club Loco? Many Thanks.
Bulleidboy
Can any one tell me the catalogue number and description of the 2017 Collectors Club Loco? Many Thanks. There wasn't one they stopped in 2015(?) - and members got a voucher to use against any Hornby purchase. It was re-instated for 2018 and just out of interest, I think the 2018 Club 0-4-0 may have arrived. I just received an email to say my delivery from Hornby will arrive tomorrow, and against my orders on this site it says "processing".
