Thank you new lad on block.  😀

Great images. Seems like none of the R9098 Flying Scotsman models had white copyright year printing on the chassis. Some of the models do, other's don't.

Have you noticed that Hornby modified Gordon's face, to create Flying Scotsman's face?

  • 2 weeks later...

Hornby have made a couple of double tender Flying Scotsman models over the years. I picked one up from eBay and also added smoke deflectors to my R9098. I did a video on you tube you can search for, Chuffin Trains. I'm sure i looked before i did it but i put the smoke deflectors on upside down. I only used tacky wax so corrected them.

I'm pretty sure GNR-Gordon-4 has mentioned in the past he also has a second tender.

@LBSCR Nerd

I agree, but Hornby shoud have released R9098 Flying Scotsman back in 2005, with the second tender, to be honest with you. The product would have costed more, but I wouldn't have minded that.

@m_duck

Welcome back!  😉  😀

Yes, when I want to run my R9098 Flying Scotsman with two tenders, I take the water tender out of my R2935 Flying Scotsman USA Tour 1969 Train Pack, from 2011. Sadly, the decals and the paint colours, do not match up. Not much can be done however, when a water tender in LNER 4472 livery, has not been released that has painted the same colour as R9098 Flying Scotsman is.

Thanks GNR-Gordon-4. I had a break from my layout and have been spending time with my Retro 80's computer collection. I didn't touch the layout from from May until Christmas Eve and then cleaned the track and started running some locos. Really looking forward to getting back into it. I uploaded a picture of a new Thomas purchase in the Latest Aquisitions thread but the photo hasn't been approved yet. Once Hornby sort out the Admin I'll create a new thread here and upload some pictures. I'll stop before we get told off for going off topic.
