Live Steam Thread Types

Hi

can anyone tell me what screws and threads hornby used on the G100 live steam train?

I think they maybe BA but not sure.

the thread size for most of the very small screw is 1.2mm hope that helps

I bow to Gowest's immense experience with live-steam and apologise for introducing slight doubt but the Rocket having been manufactured in Margate so many years ago, I would have expected BA threads to have been used.

i thought that as the question was live steam trains I thought he was referring to the A4's and A3's I'm not familiar with the Rocket?

Then in that case I do not know as I have not worked on aRocket but one of the engineers at Hornby must know try emailing them

Except offering advice as to which types of threads would have been generally in use at that time, I very much doubt that there is anyone in the current Hornby who had any dealings with the Rocket at the time of its manufacture 40 years ago or during the relatively short time it was supported.  Documentation was very scant but if I remember correctly, a few screws on the loco were also used on 00 models so those would almost certainly have BA threads.

From an engineering point of view BA threads a very similar to metric threads and any one in the larger world of model engineering use BA threads so as you say these started life 40 years ago I would think it more than likely that BA threads were used but maybe Rob can find out.

BA screws and nuts can still (or were before COVID19) be obtained from a number of suppliers. Try Google.
