Gilbert_H
While in recent years most RLM colours have been added to the Humbrol-catalogue, modellers are advised to use the old 65 Aircraft Blue as a "approx to RLM 65 Hellblau".However, when compared to colour photographs and to what other manufacturers are offering as RLM 65, Humbrol 65 is much too blueish and lacks the typical greyish shine. A new RLM 65 Humbrol paint would thus be most welcome.
Ratch
Comparing to photographs isn't reliable. Humbrol 65 has always been regarded as a good match for RLM 65. This is the first time I've heard it put into question.
peebeep
This is the first time I've heard it put into question. Not for me. I can remember Ray Rimmell articles in Scale Models Magazine from the seventies and eighties advising to add some grey to tone it down a bit because it's otherwise too bright (and pastel). I think the author Michael Ullman may have referred to it in articles in Scale Aircraft Modelling as well.
Frederick Kullas
I believe there is now some research reckoning the RLM 65 varied from a more blue colour in pre-WW2 to about end of 1940/early 1941 then became a bit more greyer from then on until it was replaced by RLM 76 Light Blue and RLM 78 Sky Blue
