  1. Certain stencils must not be covered by other markings. If national markings or letters obliterate the stencil the stencil must be re-instated. Take a Spitfire as an example; the trestle markings under the wings on early Spitfires was over the roundel. W/T markings were stenciled back on over the fin flash et cetera. So, main markings first and stencils on top
  2. Humbrol doesn't do a match in spray cans. You may find a similar colour in the car spray paints in a car accessories shop. Halfords if you are the UK. The two most popular colours are Humbrol 78 and Humbrol 120. Take painted samples of these to the shop to find a match
  3. Even if he was, Airfix could still have told him they have it in the acrylic bottle
  4. Odd they should tell you that as they have it on stock https://uk.airfix.com/products/no-106-ocean-grey-matt-db0106
  5. I use a size 2 flat paint brush and plenty of water on the model surface to help the decal move around into place. Then dab away excess water with a piece of tissue
  6. I use 'Astonish' floor 'polish'. The same as the famous Kleer. You can usually find 'Astonish' in Home Bargains for about £1 for a 750ml bottle. I've been using it for nearly 10 years now. Not just to varnish models but on my leather work and antler handled knifes
  7. I have some of the very first batch, bought about 2 years ago. No sign of them drying out. I'll only wish they would. The paints are air-brush thin and if/when they start to dry out they might become more brushable
  8. Get 53 Gunmetal and add some 11 Silver into it and re-label the pot. Depending on your pot of 53 will depend on how much 11 to mix in. I have a pot of 53 which is a very dark metallic grey and another pot which is more a mid-greyish silver.
  9. Matt looks better but the paints were gloss and French paints, after 1915, were actually 'metallic' looking as the lead binder was replaced by aluminium. The lead being required for bullets Gloss paint was common, matt paint was hardly known. As most aircraft were painted using the same types of paints as on cars of the time gloss was the normal
  10. Properly named the S-boat it was last in the Airfix range about 7 years ago
  11. I think the glass is only specific to that kit. I think the idea of the glass comes from the end of the film 'Ice cold in Alex'
  12. When I visited Brooklands many years ago I was shown a large piece of the fuselage fabric from the Wellington they were restoring at the time. It was painted black on the inside
  13. As far as I remember none of the small scale Airfix tanks come with figures The German Armoured Car has three figures The 88mm gun and Halftrack has some crew figures as does the Bren Gun Carrier and the 25lb Gun and Quad You don't have to use any photo-etch if you don't want to. The photo-etch is only to supplement the kit parts but you can just not use the p-e
  14. As per title; the enamels are back on the Airfix / Humbrol website pages
