William-835226
Hello everyone,First of all, I wasn't sure whether to put this under the Wish list section or General discussion, so apologies if this is in the wrong place.I recently was watching "James May's Big Trouble in Model Britain" and saw a segment in it about branching out into the video game market to make model trains appeal to younger generations. Then it suddenly dawned on me that Hornby already made a couple of fairly successful video games back in the late 90s/early 2000s. (Virtual Railway 1 & 2)So why not make a 3rd game if Hornby is serious about venturing into video games? Something like this has amazing potential, such as: Better graphics, Virtual Reality, Community modding support, Downloadable Add-on Content, and possibly MULTIPLAYER!While I am aware that developing a video game costs a lot of money, I think this could bring a whole new world to railway modelling and potentially give the opportunity for people to build up layouts where they couldn't afford to make the real thing.Thank you for coming to my Dragon's Den pitch grinning
atom3624
They'll have to 'keep it real', perhaps only permitting Hornby products, and they be presented with whatever 'warts' they have as well - no perfecting for the game, or it could risk losing interest in 'real model railways'.Al. 96RAF
Given the poor quality of the previous product I would quietly let it fall into obscurity. To generate a whole new state of the art VR capable version would need to be a ground up rebuild likely at great cost.
