Rigging WW2 warships

How have people gone about rigging 1:600 models?

What type of thread did you use?

What type of glue?

Did you paint the masts first then rig, or vice versa?

How did you "Tee" connect down lines from HF aerials?

Any description and photos on the process you used and how it turned out would be most welcome.

I use "stretched sprue." I keep the best bits of sprue from the kits I build .....the longer, straight ones. I heat a small section on a candle flame and stretch it by spreading my arms. I then get a nice thin "thread," cut it to size and then fix it in place with a tiny drop of superglue applied with a toothpick. It takes a bit of practice and is quite fragile. However that is a good think. If I hit a mast the sprue snaps. If it were stronger the mast would break! If you have more questions just ask.

Definitely paint before rigging.

Great info thanks. I'll have to practice this sprue stretching, as last time I tried it, it wasn't brilliant. I also wonder how consistent you can get the thickness. I was thinking of trying some light fishing nylon, which would at least have the merit of constant thickness. But as you suggest, might result in broken masts.
