Important Information for New Members Registering for the Forum (Updated 29th March 2023)

Recommended Posts

The change in this latest version to that published previously is the addition of some additional information regarding 'Posting on a Thread'.

Choose a Nickname

It is in your own interest to have a unique username.

Could you please ensure that you choose a nickname when registering for the Forum. This is one of the fields to be completed as part of the registration. The nickname you choose will appear against each of your posts and must be unique to you. If you do not pick a unique nickname, one will be picked for you consisting of your first name followed by at least 6 digits.

Starting a new thread

When starting a new thread, please choose a title for your thread that (in a few words) summarises the reason for the thread. Threads which have a meaningful title have been proved to work better than titles like, 'Help required'. It will also help with future searches by other members, with a similar request.

Posting on a Thread

In order to post on any particular thread, it is only necessary to scroll to the bottom of the page and type your answer in the white box before pressing 'Post Reply' ONCE. The page takes quite a few seconds (a lot sometimes) so please do not keep pressing 'Post Reply'. All duplicates will be rejected.

Adding a Picture

To add a picture to your post, please select the righthand one of the icons at the top of the White Box and then choose your image from those stored on your system. Your picture will NOT appear on the Forum immediately, as all pictures require Moderator approval, so there is no need to keep pressing enter! Duplicates due to repeated posting will be rejected.

No need to add extra lines in your post

The Forum automatically inserts a paragraph space when you press 'Enter'. This is not obvious when you type in your post, so there is no need to add extra spaces between paragraphs.

Checking for a reply to your post

It is worth noting that you will need to check back on the Forum to see if there are any updates to your thread or answers to your post, because this Forum does not inform you automatically that replies have been posted.

Saying Thank You

It is of course nice to say Thank You for any information provided in answer to your post, because some members spend an awful lot of time providing detailed answers. It also lets the member who helped know that the issue may (or may not) have been solved.

Enjoy the Forum!
