RougeTrooper
I am currently building the Tiger 1 early production tank and there is a part that is a bit of a mystery for me. I have tried to find it on line but keep coming up blank. So any help would be greatly appreciated. It's the unpainted part in this picture. Ratch
As your post is about a tank, I've moved it to the Military Vehicle forum. It would help if you'd post in the appropriate forum.
Jay 1707822856
Does seem a bit puzzling as if the turret was to traverse it would be underneath, I would assume an access plate/panel Have you had a look online at a Tiger mark 1 owners manual that should give you an extremely detailed breakdown ? Paul-812250
Hi Rouge,I think its the stowage or canvas bag for holding the barrel cleaning and clearing rods.
RougeTrooper
Does seem a bit puzzling as if the turret was to traverse it would be underneath, I would assume an access plate/panelHave you had a look online at a Tiger mark 1 owners manual that should give you an extremely detailed breakdown ? It's not an access panel, it appears to be some form of accessory tool of which I've searched high and low on web. I think it maybe a plate for the jack to sit on face_with_rolling_eyes, not got a scobby doo. Thanks for your time and input.
RougeTrooper
Hi Rouge,I think its the stowage or canvas bag for holding the barrel cleaning and clearing rods. Good idea, but I think the cleaning rods are located in between the tow cables. No harm in searching the web on your ideas. Martin Butler1707819995
According to the Tiger Tank Haynes Manual (ISBN 798 178521 687 9) page 46 bottom photo, the part in question (D14) is a plate used to seal an engine air intake during deep wading. In the case of Tiger 131 at Bovington it is painted in the main hull colour, I would imagine this would be the same for any other Tiger.
